Be it known that I, CHARLEs L. BRALEY, a citizen of the United States, residin at the city of Chicago, county of Cook, tate of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in MarkingPin Holders, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in marking pin holders.

The main objects of this invention are:

First, to provide an improved holder for marking pins of the safety pin type which is of large capacity and at the same time very compact and one in which the pins are all readily accessible.

Second, to provide an improved marking pin holder which is very convenient to use. Third, to provide an improved marking pin holder in which ;the holders for the groups of pins are all accessible and at the same time the holders can not be taken out as units by the operator. I 7

Further objects,fand objects relating to structural details, will definitely appear from the detailed description to follow.

I accomplish the objects of my invention by the devices and means described in the following specification The invention is clearly defined and pointed out in the claims.

A structure which is a preferred embodiment of my invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, in which:

Fig. I is a plan view of a structure embodying the features of my invention, the marking ,pins being shown conventionally.

Fig. II is an enlarged detail section on a line corresponding to line 22 of Fig. I.

Fig. III is a side elevation with the strut extended, supporting the holder in position for use.

Fig. IV is a rear view with the strut collapsed.

Fig. V is a plan view of a modified structure embodying the features of my invention in which the holders are sheet metal stampings.

base 1 preferably of sheet metal. having rearwardly turned flanges 2 at its edges, providing a recess or chamber. into which the strut 3 may be collapsed. Thefflanges also serve to stiffen the base. The strut-3 is bale-like in form and is provided with pintles 4 inthe ends of its arms engaging the straps 5 secured on the-rear side; of the base. Stops '6 limit the outward swing of the strut. V

When the strut is extended,-it supports the base in the inclined position shown in Fig. III. VVhen collapsed-,-. .the strut lies within the flanges as shown in Fig. II.

On the base I mount a pair of arches 7,

the arms of the arches being threaded to receive the nuts 8 which serve as an efiec tive means of securing the arches to thebase. I provide a plurality of holders 9 preferably formed as illustrated of flexible pocket members 10 and the pocket. strips 11 di s-' posed transversely of the pocket members and secured by means. offlthe bindings 12 and the transverse rows of stitches 13 at their lower ends. The pocket members 10 are provided with bindings jletwhich also engage the ends of the pocket strips. The longitudinal stitches 15 through the pocketstrips form them into a plurality of pockets 16 adapted to receive the marking pins 17 The pocket members are provided with grommets 18 at their ends engaging the arches so that the strips may be readily swung-from side to side of the arches, the holders being supported on one side with their pockets facing upwardly and on the other side of the arches with their pockets facing downwardly.

The pocket members are preferably provided with the stiffening members 19 retained in position by the straps 20, the straps 20 at one end of the pocket members being engaged with the eyelets 18 so that movement of the stifiening strip 19 in that direction is prevented. The arch limits the movement of the stiffening members in the other direction, that is, it prevents their being slipped out of thestraps while the loo pocket members are engaged with the arches.

shown in Figs. V and VI, the holders 21 are in the formof sheet metal plates having tongues 22 struck up therefrom providing pockets 23 adapted to receive the pins 17. The form of my invention shown in Figs. V and VI is very eooiioniical to manufacture and is very satisfactory in use.

With this simple arrangement of parts, the marking pins may be arranged Within the holders, one or more holders being devoted to each group of the marking pins. 1 improved marking pin holder is oi large capacity and at the same time very compact. VVhi'le the pins of various groups are readily accessible, only those of a single group are exposed at one time so that it is not" possible for the operator to reach, through error, a pin from any other group ivhile she is marking articles With that particular group. p

A- further advantage is that the holders are all held upon the base so that they do notbe'come' seattered about the laundry as is frequently the case Where the holders for the groups of pins are held in a cabinet or the like. The structure is also Very economical r produce and durable in use.

I have illustrated and described my improvements as I have embodied them in a device for holding pins for marking laun dry, I have not attempted to illustrate or describe other illustrations or adaptations v'vhich I contemplate as I believe the disclosure made Will enable those skilled in the art to Which my invention relates to embody or adapt the same as may be desired.

Having thus described my invention, What "I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A marking pin holder comprising a flexible pocket member, pocket strips disposed transversely of said pocket member, bindings for the edges of said pocket member embracing the ends of the pocket strips. there being rows of stitches longitudinally of said pocket member and through said pocket strips providing rows of pockets, support engaging grommets at the ends of said pocket member, stiffening strip supporting straps disposed on the rear side of said pocket member, and a stiffening strip disposed under said straps.

2. A marking pin holder comprising a flexible pocket member, pocket strips dis-- posed transversely of said pocket member. bindings for the edges of said pocket member embracing the ends of the pocket strips. there being rows of stitches longitudinally of said pocket member and through said pocket strips providing rows Of pockets, support engaging grommets at the ends of. said pocket member, and a stiffening strip for said pocket member.

8. A marking pin .holder comprising flexible pocket member, pocket strips disposed transversely of said pocket member, bindings for the edges of said pocket member embracing the ends of the pocket strips, there being rows of stitches longitudinally of said pocket member and through said pocket strips providing rows of pockets, and support engaging grommets at the ends of said pocket member.
