Description

N. F. MANSURE CURTAIN non LEADER AFiled Sept. '7. 1920 and cheap device which is well adapted :forl
scan, or cmcasc, ILLINOIS.
- aan cuarnrmnon Lamina,
Application iilediseptember, 1920. Serial No. 408,486.
To all 'whom-it may concern: VBe it'known that I, NELLIE FonsMAN MANSURE, a citizen-of the United States,
- residing at Chicago, in the vcounty of Cook* 5 and State of Dlinois, have invented'a new and useful Improvement in Curtain-Rod Leaders, of which the `following is a specication.
v This invention relates particularly to a device which may be employed as a curtain- 'rod tip or thimble,*in` connection with curtain rods of different sizes, to` facilitate'the introduction 'of the curtain-rod into vlor through the loop of a curtain.
The primary object is to provide a simple use in connection with 'curtain-rods of diffe'rent sizes, for the purpose indicated.
The invention is illustrated 'in its prezoferred embodiment in the accompanying drawing in which-' Fig. 1 represents the improved 'curtain-V rod leader, partly in section and partly .in
elevation, applied to a curtain-rod (shown brokenl the dotted lines indicating curtain-roxL of different diameters and illustrating how the improved device'is adapted vfor interchangeable use; and Eig. 2 represents, by a broken elevational view, `a cur- 3 0 tain, the "view illustratingA the manner in which the curtain-rod is entered through the loop of the curtain.
, In the illustration given, A Y represents a curtain-rod; B," an improved curtain-rod" leader; and C, a curtain per end with a loop C,
The device vB comprises* .an elongated v shell,'which preferably is formed of sheet metal, but which ma be cast in the form 40 shown, ifrdesired. -e shell, however, may
be drawn from a'disk of PTOVded at its up.-
. section'l, of -small diameter, an intermediate section 2 of larr diameter, and a rear endsection 3 of st' larger diameter. 1The section 1 Vpreferably is completely'clojsed at its advance end and presents'a ntapered por- `the loo `metal. Inthe form shown,'the shell comprises a tip-end' Similarly, the rear section 3 presents a tapered portion 3 at its front end, which joins the .rear end ci the section 2. The sections are of substantially cylindrical form, so as to aord a rm bearing 'or secure socket for the end of lthe curtain-rod, the advance end o'feach section being curved or tapered to facilitate the passage of the leader through of the curtain.-
In t e form illustrated, the device B is adapted for use in connection with curtain rods of three different sizes, as for instance, a quarter inch rod, a three-eighths inch rod,
and a half inch rod. TheJ rod A of inter-- mediate size is shown ,engaging the intermediate socket 2ofthe device B. Rods A andi-L2 of smaller and ./lar er size, respectively, are shown' in dotted llnes'as engaging lthe socket' portions l--and 3 of the device.
The improved device is.V of simple Aconstruction, may be manufactured cheaply, 1s
'adapted to be applied with suiicient security tain is being`made, vit is possible to again enter fthe rod in the thimble,v because of the fact that the thimble is 'of rigid form and open at onefend -for free insertion of the rod. l
What I regard cure by Letters Patent is- 1. An article of malnufacture, consistingof a thimble vcomprising a plurality of cylindricalsocketsections of successively reduced size, each cylindrical section having substantially parallel walls and being joined hould the device, for any l as new and desire to seto the adjacent section by tapering walls,
thesmall end section having a closed '-tip.
2. An article of manufacture consisting of an integral shell comprising a small cylindrical t1p-end socket-section closed at its advance end,A an. intermediate cylindrical socket-section of larger diameter, and a rear end cylindrical socket-sectionof stillllarger diameter, eachof said sections tapering at its advance end and having 'the walls of its main o'rtion, substantially parallel.
' LLIE FORSMAN. MANSURE.
