Application led September 11, 1922, Serial No. 587,482. Renewed April 16, 1924.
To all whom t may oonoem Be it known that I, SAMUEL STEPHEN AR NoLD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Berkeley, in the county of Alameda and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combination Nursery Chairs and Cradles, of which the following is a specification.
My invention is an improved combination l0 nursery chair and cradle.
The object of my invention is to provide a rocking chair with means whereby it may be incorporated with a cradle, so that the cradle is rocked by the motion of the chair.
Another object of my invention is to provide a combination nursery chair and cradle, whereby either may be used separately if desired.
Referring to the drawing which forms a part of this specification:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of my chair with the cradle inserted therein. l
Figure 2 is a transverse sectional view of the same.
Figure 3 is a perspective view of the cradle.
Figure 4 is a fragmentary sectional view of one end of the cradle and rocker.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, the numeral 1 indicates a rocking chair which has a seat 2, legs 3, 4, 5 and 6, and rockers 7 and 8 secured to the legs 3 and 4 and 5 and 6 respectively. There are no rungs between the legs 3 and 4 which allows a cradle 9 to be inserted between 35 said legs and under the seat 2. The seat 2 is pivoted at 10 to the chair 1, which allows it to be raised to form a nursery chair.
rIhe cradle 9 has end members 11 and 12 to which are secured rockers 13 and" 14 respectively. The rocker 14 is removably secured to the end T2by dowel pins 15, which project from the end 12 into the rocker. A Hoor 16 and sides 17 and 18 extend between 45 the two ends 11 and 12.
When it is desired to insert the cradle in the chair the rocker 14 is removed and the end 12 passed between the legs 3 and 4 when the rocker may again be inserted.
Having described my invention, I claim:
In combination with a rocking chair comprising a seat, two pairs of legs depending from said seat, rockers secured to each of said pairs of legs, a cradle adapted to be fitted between one of said pair of legs and under said seat, said cradle comprising two end members, a floor, and two side members, a rocker secured to one of said end members, and a second rocker removably secured to the other end member, said cradle being supported principally by its own rockers.
