DANIEL JONES, OF HORTONVILLE, WISCONSIN.
IMPROVEMENT m BAG-FASTENERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 149,663, dated April 14, 1874; application filed July 5, 1873.
To all whom "it may concern:
Be it known that -I, DANIEL JONES, of Hortonville, in the county of Ontagamie and State of Wisconsin, have invented a new and 1mproved Bag-Fastener; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to.

To a'loop G, is pivoted the plate A and to a loop, D,, a lever, E F, the loops being jointed together at d, and being of sncha' length that lever 11 F may be fastened on hooks B of plate A. The lever E F is so curved that its short loop F may be easily placed in a fulcrum-notch, D, and will allow the long loop E to be turned over at great advantage of leverage, drawing the fastener tight around the bag. As soon as this is effected the loops E F s1ip back out of the notches D, over the incline O, and into the concavity of the hook B, Where they are securely held. In order to prevent the loops E F from all possibility of being jolted 011' the hooks B, I use a pin, G, having the springarm g, with a corrugation that will lie close to the pin. Afterthe fastener is locked the spring g is held off from the pin, and the latter inserted in one of the holes, a over the hooklever E F. This pin G is held permanently to the fastener by a chain, cord, or other attachment.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. The combination, with jointed loops G D and curved loop-lever E F, of the arc-plate A, having hooks B, inclines O, and fulcrumnotches D, constructed and arranged as described, to allow the fastener to be locked, in the manner set forth.
2. The pinG, having corrugated spring-arm g, combined with plate having holes a and the locking-lever E F, as and for the purpose specified.
