A. F. -NIEL.$EN ADJUSTABLE ROOF SOAFFOLD SUPPORT Filed June 25, 1921 INVENTOR AT'I'ORN EY Patented May 27, 1924.
UNITED STATES ANDRES F. NIELSEN, OF CLIFTON, NEW JERSEY.
ADJUSTABLE BOOF-SCAFFOLD SUPPORT.
Application filed June 25, 1921. Serial 1%. 480,383.
7 '0 all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, ANDREs F. NIELSEN, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Clifton, in the county of Passaic and State of New Jersey, have invented new and useful Improvements in Adjustable Roof-Scaffold Supports, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to adjustable roof scaffold supports and the principal object of the invention is this nature in which the support for the scaffold board shall be adjustable for receiving the board and holding the same at the proper angle when used on any pitch of roof.
Another object is to produce a device of this nature which shall be simple of construction, cheap to manufacture and highly eflicient for the purpose for which it is designed.
With these and other objects in view which will be more apparent as the specification proceeds, the invention resides in certain novel construction and combination and arrangement of parts, the essential features of which are hereinafter fully described, are particularly pointed out in the appended claim, and are illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of one of a pair of my improved scaffold holders in place for supporting a scaffold plank.
Figure 2 is a side elevation of one of the holders per se.
Like characters of reference refer to like parts in all views.
Referring to the represents the scaffold holder plate which is made comparatively broad so as to eliminate any tendency of lateral tipping of the scaffold. Secured by rivets or any other suitable means to this holder plate is an elongated member 11 having its upper end provided with a plurality of notches 12 which are adapted to engage with nails or other securing devices 13 driven'in to the roof of the building. The lower portion of the member 11 has side flanges 14 bent upwardly therefrom so as to form a channel to provide a devlce of slope of the roof.
drawing in detail,
iron. Between the upper ends of flanges 14: there is pivotally supported a scaffold board supporting beam 15 which is preferably in the form'of a channel bar having its flanges beveled where necessary so as to properly 5 pivot on'the rod 16 and so as to properly join with the adjustable support about to be described.
Pivotally supported on a rod 17 secured in the lower portion of the flanges 14 is a channel bar 18, the flanges 19 of which are provided with a plurality of registering apertures 20. The end of member 18 is turned up at 21 to form a stop for preventing the scaffold board 22 from slipping from the support 15. A chain 23 is secured to the element 21 and provided with a bolt or pin 24 adapted to pass through registering apertures 20 of the flanges 19 and'also through similar apertures-25formed in the free ends of the flanges of member 15. It will be readily seen that by adjusting the member 15' so that its apertures 25 register with a pair of the apertures 20 and then inserting the pin 24 the members 15 and 18 may be held in any one of a plurality of positions so as to adjust the'angle of the member 15 with relation to the roof so as to correspond with the pitch or -'While I have described what I deem to be the most desirable embodiment of my invention, it is obvious that many of the details may be varied without in any way departing from the spirit of my invention, 86 and I therefore do not limit myself to the exact details of construction herein set forth nor to anything less than the whole of my invention limited only by the appended claim.
What is claimed is-:v
A roof scaffold support comprising an anchoring member of channel formation, a channel bar pivotally supported on said member at one end thereof and adapted to receive one end of a scaffold board, a sec 0nd channel bar pivotally mounted on the other end of said member, aligned openings formed in the flanges of said first channel bar, a plurality of aligned openings in the flanges of said second channel bar and extended and bent to form a stop for preadapted to be brought into register With the venting the accidental slipping of the scaffirst of said openings to adjust said first fold board in an outward direction. 10 channel bar, and a pin adapted to be passed In testimony whereof I havealfixed my 5 through said registered openings to support signature.
the first channel bar in adjusted position,
the Web of said second channel bar being a v ANDRES ENIELSEN.
