BRICK MOLD.
Application filed June 15, 1922. Serial No. 568,575.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, J on L0 FORTI, a c1t1- zen of the United States, and resident of Fresno, in the county of Fresno and the- State of California, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Brick Molds, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a mold for making concrete bricks.
The object I have accomplished is a mold whereby brick in the form of an H with staggered stems can be moulded so that the face of the brick is exposed and can be troweled, stippled, veneered, or otherwise formed with a fanciful face.
I accomplish this object by means of the mold hereinafter described and illustrated on the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 is an end view of the mold. Figure 2 is an end View of one of the sides of the mold.
Figure 3 is a partition fitted between the sides.
In said drawing I have formed two sides B the design of which is shown in Figure 2 consisting of a shaped channel having one stem longer than the other, and the ends of the stems fianging outwardly. A plurality of holes h equidistant apart are made in said flanges, the distance said holes are apart gauging the width of the bricks. Two of these sides are necessary to form the mold, and when assembled they are placed on a base It so the bottoms b of the channels are a spaced distance apart and on parallel planes, and the longer stem 6 is on a common plane with the shorter stem of the other side. A plurality of partitions F are formed in the shape of a letter H having staggered stems and having tenons k at each end of each stem which fit into the holes 7L. These tenons'have holes there through so when assembled they can be locked in position by placing a nail at therethrough. In the partition F, the length of the stem 7 should be approximately the length of the stem 6 and the tie f should be the approximate length of the bottom 6 It will be noted that when the mold is assembled by binding the sides B together with the partitions F and locking them in position with nails, molds can be filled with wet concrete mixture and the brick thus formed will have the face exposed so that surplus concrete can be stroked off the form and the face of the brick can be veneered and stippled or otherwise ornamented at will or the face can be formed to imitate any kind of stone desired.
Having described my invention I claim as new and ask for Letters Patent:
A mold for making concrete brick consisting of duplicate sides shaped as a channel having one side of the channel longer than the other, said sides having uniform outwardly extending flanges, the sides being assembled with partitions adapted to fit between said sides when they are placed so the flanges and bottoms of the channel are on parallel planes a spaced distance apart, and the longer side .of one channel is on a common'plane with the shorter side of the other channel, substantially as described.
