Be it known that I, EDWARD ANDERSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in VVindow-Cleaners Seats, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to window cleaners seats and the principal object is to produce a device of this natureI which may be readily moved from window to window and which when in place will provide an extension of the window sill affording a safe support for one who is cleaning a window.

Another object is to provide a device of this nature which shall be simple of construction, cheap to manufacture, and highly efficient for the purpose for which it is designed.

Another object is to produce a device of this nature which shall be formed so as not to interfere with awning hooks or other devices on the normal window sill.

With these and other objects in view, the invention resides in certain novel construction and combination and arrangement of parts, the essential features of which are hereinafter fully described, are particularly pointed out in the appended claim, and are illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which F'igure 1 is a top plan view of a window sill with my improvement in place.

Figure 2 is an end view of the same.

Figure 3 is a sectional view on line 3-3 of Figure 1.

Like characters of reference refer to like parts in all views.

Referring to the drawing in detail, an ordinary sill is shown consisting of upper and lower members 10 and 11. Secured to the upper member 10 are a pair of square headed bolts 12, the heads being designated as 13. Ordinary awning hooks areshown at 14.l The device proper comprises a base member 15 which is thicker at its outer edge so that when seated on the member 11 its upper surface will be substantially level. Secured to the member 15 by screws or any other desirable means is the seat proper bearing the reference numeral 16. This seat is cutaway at 17 so as not to interfere with the awning hook 14 or with any other device that may be at the center of the window 1922. serial No. 558,272.

Secured to the member 16 are securing elements 18 which consist preferably of strap iron secured to the upper surface of member 16 and bent down along the inner face thereof and then horizontally. Each of the members 18 is provided in its free end with a modified bayonet slot 19, the large portion of which permits the free passage of the heads 13 and the small portion 0f which is smaller than said head.

From the structure as above described, it will be readily seen that the device may be quickly and positively secured to the window sill and that when in such secured position it will form a seat, the upper surface of which will extend considerably beyond the normal window sill, and will be substantially level. It will also be seen that after the device has been used it may be readily removed and being of compact form can be easily stored' away.

While I have described what I deem to be the most desirable embodiment of my invention, it is obvious that many of the details may be varied without in any way departing from the spirit of my invention, and I therefore do not limit myself to the exact details of construction herein set forth nor to anything less than the whole of my invention limited only by the appended claim. 4

What is claimed as new is A device of the class described comprising a base member having its underside beveled, a seat member secured to said base member and having its side edges overhang ing the same, a portion of the front edge of which is cut-away to a point in alignment with the front edge of said base member so that said seat member will be free from obstructions arranged along a window sill, and means for securing said device to a window sill, said means comprising a plurality of securing members fastened along the upper face of said seat member and bent downward over in abutting relation to the front edge of the same adjacent said cutaway portion to form extensions, bayonet slots formed in said extensions, and fixed headed members for locking co-action with said bayonet slots.
