umrso STATES PATENT: QFFICE- HENRI GRIVEL, or- GUEBWILLER, rnANon,
GILL-mTEnsEc'rme DOUBLE-NEEDLE COMB-DRAWING Ao InE.
A lication fi led bece'm'nr 27,1922; Serial no. 609,247.
To. all toizom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRI GnIvEL, c 1t1 zen of the French Republic, residing at'Guebof which the relative positioncan be adj usted, are inserted before the needle combs, the object being on the one hand to obtain a more advantageous construction by reducing the needle-combs, and on the other hand to increase the production. Another feature of the improved machine according to the invention consists therein, that the upper needle comb-set is hinged about the driving end of the worm device in such away that the proper meshing of the screw-spindle and the relative position of the cams carried thereby remain unaltered, whereby after raising and securing the upper needle combset out of the way by means of a suitable device provided for the purpose, fibrous material of any kind whatever may be drawn by means of a single needle combjset: in such a case it is suflicient to adjust the needlecyl.inders which, as stated above, are according to the invention arranged so as to. permit such adjustment. Adjustment is however also obtained through the'drawingcylinder, to the extent of about 1/25 of an inch in height above the level of the needle combs of the lower set. This latter adjustment of the drawing-cylinder from the upper position for drawing with two needle comb-sets to the lower position for drawing with a single needle comb-set is caused by an automatic tightenting of the endless belt.
An embodiment of the improved drawingmachine according to the invention is, by way of example only, illustrated by the accompanying drawing, wherein:
Fig. l is a partial side-elevation showing two intermeshing rows of needle combs forming part of a so-called gill intersecting drawing-machine.
Fig. 2 is a similar view, but with the up per needle-comb-set in the raised position.
:As maybe seen from the drawing, on "the front worn'rspmdles afare mounted 'gear-.
wheels 6 having teeth with heads rounded as shown in the" direction of their width, so as to allowthe- -upper needlecomb-set 0,'of which the frame d is hinged or pivoted about the trunnion e, to be raised as shown by Fig. 2, without the position of the cams being altered "thereby. These cams are mounted in known manner on the screwspindles a and f in the case of a double row of needle combs or on one of said spindles in the case of a single row of needle combs. g, it and z indicate the needle-cylinders, of which one i can be adjusted by means of the lever-arm In pivoted about the centre of h, and can be maintained in position by means of the lever-arm-J. The needle-cylinders, of which the interchangeable needle-number fittings vary from rough for g to medium for h and fine for i, constitute a preparationmachine which permits of the needle combs at being kept finer.
WVhen it is desired to work with a single needle comb-set, the upper needle comics 0 are raised. The amplitude of this movement is set by meansof a suitable guide-member which in the embodiment illustrated consists of a curved arm n pivoted at 0 and having a notch which, when the upper needle comb-set is raised, comes to bear on a projecting pin p of the frame 9 of the lower needle comb-set.
In the position Fig. 2 the needle combs m can be taken out for cleaning purposes.
The adjustment of the drawing-cylinder 2% takes place through automatic tightening of the endless belt 2 by the pressure-hook a pivoted about the centre of t. For this purpose, a pres'su.relever u is pivotally connected to said pressure-hook as shown at 1",
and the said pressure-lever u on the one hand is subjected to the influence of a pressure-spring a and an adjustment-screw w, and on the other hand exerts a pressure on a roller 51 mounted on the pulley-shaft a: and thus causes the tightening of the belt 2.
I claim:
1. In a drawing-machine of the kind set forth comprising a frame and upper and lower intersecting needle comb-sets mounted therein, a plurality of cooperating needlecylinders positioned before comb-sets, and means for adjusting the position of said cylinders in relation to one another.
said needle 2. Inndrawing machine of the :kind Set forth comprislng upper and lower intersect- 111g needle comb-sets mounted in a suitable frame, a drawing cylinder devio'ewarranged to draw thevinaterial through said needleoornbs and a belt and pulley-drive for said drawing-cylinder device, means, for the .au-.:
tolnatic adjustment of such drawing-cylinderadevice, .comprising a C-shaped pressure-hook havingzits upper. end .pivoted about the. 1 spindle of the v drawing-cylinder,
a :rollerulnounted on the spindle of the lower pulley 'a horizontaL lever-member pivoted at;
