IMPROVEMENT IN STOVE-PIPE SHELVES.

To all 'whom fit may concern Be it known that I, HARDY W. CAMPBELL, of Montgomery Centre, in the county of Franklin and State of Vermont, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stove-Pipe Shelves; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of stove-pipe shelves, as will be hereinafter more fully set In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe ts construction and operation, referring' to the annexed drawing, in which- Figure l is a longitudinal vertical section, and Fig. 2 a plan view, of my invention.

A represents a squarel case, of any suitable dimensions, provided with a short tube, I3, in the bottom, to fit over the pipe collar on the stove, and with a short pipe, B', on the top, over which the stove-pipe isl to iit, so that the products of combustion must pass through said case from the stove to the stove-pipe. Through the case A are arranged horizontal tubes or iiues C C, substantially in the manner shown in Fi g. l, or in any other suitable manner that will answer the same pi1rpose-na111ely, to increase the radiating surface. To the sides of the top and bottom Ilues are attached wings D D, to throw the heat outward to the sides of the case; and to the outer sides of the middle flues are attached cut-off wings E E, which fill the space between said fines and the sides ofthe case, thus cutting off the heat at these points, and cause it to pass up between said ines. All thev wings, D D and E E, extend the whole length of the ues.

ter passing around these latter wings it passes through the pipe B into the stove-pipe.

At the lower edge of the case A at one side is hinged a frame or bracket, G, which is supported in a horizontal position by means of chains a a. At the upper edge on the same side of the case is hinged a similar skeleton shelf or frame, G', which is supported in a horizontal position by means of a rod, b, on etch side, said rod being formed with a ring or loop at the outer end, sliding on the side bar of the shelf, and the inner end of the rod sliding in a guide, on the side of the case.

These shelves may be used for keeping food warm, drying, and other purposes. Then not in use, the bottom shelf is elevated against the side ofthe case, and the rods b drawn out ofthe guides fr, when the top shelf falls down and holds the bottom shelf in place.

On top ofthe case, for convenience, may be pivoted a number of bars, d d, by a single bolt or pivot, e, which form a towel or clothes rack, and when not in use can be thrown out of the way on top of the case.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, anddesire to secure by Letters Patent, is- I The shelf G provided with sliding rod b, and shelf G provided with chain a, in combination with the heat-gcnerator A, the several parts being arranged as and for the purpose specified.
