Be it known that I, CHARLEs P. KLORER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Pittsburgh, in the 'county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Door-Securing Devices, of which the following is a specilication.

My invention pertains to door-securing devices, of the class which permit the door to be opened to a certain extent but prevent itfrom being opened further, and relates especially to that kind of device which includes a pivoted Z-shaped member the shank or center part of which limits the possible movement of the'door.

lt is the principal object of my invention to provide a door-securing device which, while readily releasable from within, cannot be released from the outside by the application of any reasonable force or by the employment of any degree of skill. It is a further object of my invention to provide a door-securing device of the particular kind specified above in which a hook portion has sliding engagement with a portion of the door so as to be pressed thereagainst from the inside of the door outwards when an attempt is made to open the door beyond the ,limit of the device. 1t is another object of my invention to provide a doorsecuring device which can be simply'and quickly Changed from an operative to an inoperative position, as well as to produce one which will be attractive inappearance and will not, inuse` mar the surface of the surrounding woodwork. Other and further objects will appear from the following specification and the claims forming a part thereof.

By way of example, I have described one form of door-securing device embodying my invention in the following specication and shown it i'n the accompanying drawing, in which:

In the drawing, 10 indicates the doorjamb and 11 indicates the door. To the jamb l0 is secured a plate 12, this plate bei ing let in flush and having a flange 13 eX- tending at right angles into the door-opening and also let in flush. A boss 14 extends outward from the plate 12 and has a hole therethrough formed with a small longitudinal slot 15 on the side adjacent the doorjamb.

The securing member comprises a shank 16, of a length dependent upon the extent to which it is desired that the doory can be freely opened, having a portion thereof bent at right angles to form a hinge-pin 17, the

latter being adapted to enter the hole of the boss 14. The hinge-pin 17 is provided with a small stud 18, which stud can pass through the slot 15, to permit the hinge-pin to enter its hole, when the shank is held horizontal, but prevents the hinge-pin from being withdrawn from its hole when the shank is in any other than a horizontal position. outwardly to form an engaging portion 19, which portion forms somewhat less than a right angle with the shank, so as properly to accommodate itself with the face of the opening door. Upon the inside face of the door 11, extending inward from the door-edge and downward from the level of the plate 12, is secured a plate 21 formed with an upstanding ridge 22 which approaches the door towards the top of the plate. The edge of the roller 20 bears against this ridge during theopening and closing of the door.

My construction leaves noopportunity for anything of the sort, and at the same time in volves nothing bulky in the way or heavy fastenings. In addition to this, the other features of constructionV are such that no amount of skillful manipulation, as by means of cords, wires or the like, will enable the device to be released by a person operating from the outside of the door. The device,'moreover, is simple and cheap of manufacture, can'be easily installed, and cannot, in use, mar in any `way the woodworkof the door.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:

1. The combination with a door and a door jamb of a door securing device comprising an element secured to the door-jamb, and a securing member having a shank hingedly connected with said element and having a portion extending at an angle from said shank in the path of the door so as to engage in an outward direction against said door when the latter is moved inwardly.

2. The colnbination with a door and a door jamb of a door securing device compri sing an element secured to the door-j amb, and a securing member having a shank hingedly andy separably connected with said element and having a portion extending lat anf angle from said shank in the path or the door so as to engage in an outward direction against said door when the latter is moved inwardly. y n

3. The combination with a door and a door jamb of a door securing device com prising a socket secured to the door-jamb, and a securing member including a shank, a hinge-pin extending from said shank and entering said socket, and an engaging portion extending at an angle from said shank in the path of the door so asv to engage in an outward direction against saidy door when the latter is moved inwardly.

4. The combination with a door and a door jamb of a door securing device comprising an element secured to the door jamb; a securing member having a shank hingedly connected with said element, and having a portion extending at an angle in the path of the door; and a plate for cngagement by said securing-member-portion and adapted to be secured to the door.

5. A door securing device comprising an element for being secured to the door jamb; and a securing member comprising a shank hingedly connected with said element, a portion extending at an angle from said shank in the path of the door, and a door-engaging roller on said portion.

6. A' door securing device comprising an element for being secured to the door-j amb; a ksecuring member comprising a shank hingedly connected with said element, a portion extending at an angle from said shank inthe path of the door, and a doorengaging roller on said portion; and a plate for engagement by the face of said roller, andA having a ridge for engagement by the side of said roller.

7. A door securing device comprising a socket for being secured to the door jamb, anda securing member including a shank, a hinge pin extending from said shank and entering said socket, a portion extending at an angle from said shank in the path of the door, and an anti-friction roller carrie'dzby said portion and adapted to engage in an outward direction against said door the latter is moved inwardly.

8. A `door securing device comprising an element :for being secured to the door j amb; a securing member having a shank hingedly connected with said element,` a portion extending at an angle inthe path of the door, an anti-friction roller on said portion; and a plate for engagement by said friction roll er and yadapted to be secured to the door'.

9. A door Asecuring device comprising au element for being secured to the door jamb, a securing member having a shank and a portion extending at an angle from said shank in the path of the door so as to engage in an outward direction against said door when ythe latter is moved inwardly, and means for hingedly connecting said shank ywith said element so as to be removable at one position of rotation.
