As my invention is peculiarly adapted for attachment on a knife, a further object of i my invention .isto provide in one complete device a key-holder andy a knife.` 4.

A further object of my invention isto provide a key-holding attachment, the outer shell of which is peculiarly adaptedfor surface ornamentation, and they key-retaining device especially simplerofmanufacture and sure in its action. Y

A furtherl object of'my invention is to provide a key-holding attachment adapted for useoneither a metallic orinon-metallic base.v V

Though I have shown my key-holding that may be readily attached to any object, non-metallic or oth'erwise.-v My keyholding attachment comprises a shell casing 5, the downwardly projecting flanges 6.A

thereof being adapted to be conveniently attached to any object, so as to leave a sheath 16 between lsaid casing 5 and object, a flat key-retaining spring 7,1a key 9 suitablyesevcured toa key handle 10, and preferably a lshell covering 12, providedfwithsimilar downwardly projecting flanges 18, adapted to completely telescope and fit flush against the key'handle 10, the exposed surface of which covering may kbeornamented in similarhfas'hion to the exposed lsurface ofthe outer shell 5 (as shown in Fig. 1).` The key-retaining spring7 is shown in detail in Felice.;

Vl/'hat I cla-im as newand desire to secure by Letters Patent is:`

l. An object-holding attachment, coniprising an outer shell casing, the outer edges thereof being provided with downwardly projecting flanges adapted to be attached to an object and to form a sheath between said shell casing and object, adapted to receive y 'anl object in said sheath, said second object Cil being provided with a handle and a shell covering on the exposed surface thereof, similar in form and of similar surface ornamentation to the outer shell casing, a spring provided with a base for attachment to the vdesired object near vthe opening of said sheath, and an integral curved arm thereof projecting inwardly of said sheath, adapted when the second object is inserted therein to retain said second object in locked position, the object handle and shell coverino thereof remaining exterior rof said sheatn and Aforming an exposed ornamented surface flush'with the outer surface of said shell casing.

2. An object-holding attachment, com-- prising an outer shell casing, the outer edges thereof being provided with downwardly projecting flanges adapted to be attached to the desired object land to form aV sheath between said shell casing and object, adapted to receive an object in said sheath, said second object being provided with a handle and a shell covering on the exposed surface thereof, a spring attached to the desired object underneath said shell casing, adapted when the second object is inserted to retain said second object in locked position, the object handle and shell covering thereof remaining exterior of said sheath and forming an exposed surface flush withthe outer surface of said shell y casing.

3. An object-holding attachment, comprising' an outer shell casing, the outer edges thereof being provided with downwardly projecting flanges adapted to'be attached to the desired object and to form a sheath between said shell casing and object adapted to receive an object therein, said second object being provided with a handle and a shell covering onk the exposed surface thereof, andmeans to retain the second object within said shell casing when inserted therein, the object'liandle and shell covering thereof remaining exterior of said sheath and forming an exposed surface flush withnthe outer surface of said shell casing.

prising an outer shell casing fashionedin similar shape to the upper knifevshell, the outer edges thereof being provided with downwardly projectingflanges adapted to partially telescoper the outer edges of 'the upper knife shell and be attachedthereto, and to forni a sheath between said outer shell casing and upper" knife shell, adapted to receive a key therein, said key being provided with a handle and a shell covering on the exposed surface thereof, 'similar in form and of similar surface ornamentation to the outer shell casing, a spring provided with a base for attachment to the upper knife shell near the opening of saidslieath, and an integral curved arm thereof projecting inwardly of said sheath, adapted 'i when the key is inserted to retain said key in locked posit-ion, the key handle and shell and to forni a sheath between said outer shell casing and upper knife shell, adapted to receive a key therein, said key being provided with a handle and a shell covering on the exposed surface thereof, a `spring attached to the outer shell of the knife underneath said shell casing, adapted when the key is inserted to retain said key in locked position, the key handle and shell covering thereof remainingexteri'or of said sheath, and forming an exposed surface flush with the outer surface ef said shell casing.

6. As a new article of manufacture, a key-holding attachment for a knife, comprising an outer shell casing fashioned in similar shape to the knife shell, the out-er edges thereof being provided with downward projecting flanges adapted to telescope the edges of the knife shell and to be attached thereto and to form a sheath between said outer shell casing and knife shell adapted to receive a key therein, said key being provided with a handle and a 5 shell covering on the exposed surface thereof, and means to retain said key Within said sheath in locked position when inserted therein,y the key handle and shell covering. thereof remaining exterior of said sheath 4 and forming an exposed surface flush With 10 the outer rsurface of said shell casing.
