JAMES L. SPINK AND ALBERT L. HOLLAND, OF MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA; SAID HOLLAND ASSIGNOR TO SAID SPINK.
IMPROVEMENT IN STEAM'BOiLERS.
Specilication forming part of Letters Patent No.1495259, dated March 31, 1874; application filed January 29, 187g.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that we, JAMES L. SPiNK and ALBERT L. HOLLAND, of Minneapolis, in the county of Hennepin and State of Minnesota, have invented a new and Improved Steam- Boiler; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this speciiication, in which the figure is a front elevation of a boiler, showing our invention applied to it.
The invention relates to means whereby steam-boilers may be made more eiiicient and convenient.
The invention will first be fully described in connect-ion with all that is necessary to a full understanding thereof, and then pointed out in the claim.
- A represents a boiler with return-lines, and having the subjacent pipe B connecting with a pipe-coil, O. The latter has a pipe, D, which connects it with cylinder E that is conjoined with the boiler by intervening pipes F F that enter just below the water-level. Gis a blowoft pipe; I-I, the fire-box surrounded by firebrick; I, the air-chamber that receives all the heat and transmits it. The blow-ott pipes for the cylinder E all iinally unite in one, and may be operated together.

Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The combination of the boiler A and steamgenerating sections, composed of heating-tube E, connecting` branch pipes F and intermediate heating-coil O, connected to the bottom ot' the boiler by pip'e B, and to the heating-tube E by pipe D, by which means circulation in the boiler is maintained, substantially as described.
