ANTHONY SCIULLO, OF MILFORD, MASSACHUSETTS.
BOTTLE HOLDER.
Application filed June 27, 1923. Serial No. 648,000. I
T all whom it may concern.
Be it known that ANTHONY SOIULLO, citizen of the United States, residing at Milford, in the county of Worcester and State of Massachusetts, has invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bottle Holders, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to bottle holders and more particularly to a sanitary support and cover for milk-bottles and the like.
The primary object of the invention is to provide a holder which will securely support the bottle in an upright position and protect the contents from impurities in the air.
A further object of the invention is to provide a holder which may be employed as a hand grip to carry the bottle from place to place.
2 Another object of the invention resides in the provision of means, formed integral with the holder, for removing the cap from the bottle.
A further object of the invention is to provide a holder which is simple and durable in construction, neat in appearance, reliable in operation, and inexpensive to manufacture.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent during the course of the following description.
In the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification and in which like numerals are employed to designate like parts throughout the same,
Figure 1, is a perspective view of the holder shown supporting a bottle,
Figure 2, is a rear perspective view of the holder,
Figure 3, is a longitudinal sectional view of the same, and
Figure 4:, is an outline of the blank employed in forming the holder.
The bottle holder generally comprises a hollow sheet metal body, substantially rectangular in shape, having one of its ends open and registering with a slot formed in the bottom of the body, and a horizontally disposed cover plate arranged above the slot, engageable with the mouth of the bottle when the neck of the bottle is inserted in the slot.
In the drawing, wherein for the purpose of illustration I have shown a preferred embodiment of my invention the numeral 5 designates the top of the holder,- 6 the sides and 7 the rear wall which extends below the bottom of the body terminating in a prong 8, which may be utilized to remove caps from bottles, as shown in Fig. 2. The lower 0 of the flanges are enlarged, as at 10, and ex- 6 tend across the bottom forming a stop 10 for limiting the insertion of the bottle in the slot. A tongue 11 is struck from the rear wall 7 adjacent the top whereby the holder may be suspended from a bracket 12 having a slot 13 to receivethe tongue. The bracket is secured to the wall by a nail 14 or other suitable fastener.
A spring cover plate 15 is horizontally disposed within the holder above the slot and is curved upwardly at its forward end and reversely bent, as at 16, to form a hook portion 17 which fits over the front marginal edge 17 of the top. The hook portion is securely clinched to the edge by stamped so depressions 18. Hence, it is seen the spring cover plate will snugly engage the mouth of the bottle when the latter is inserted in the holder protecting the contents.
As shown in Fig. 4, the body of the holder is formed from a single blank of sheet metal A having a central portion which constitutes the top 5, and extension bent to form the rear wall 7 and the side arms bent along lines BB and C-C respectively, to form the sides 6 and flanges 9, the latter having enlarged portions 10 forming the stop 10.
In use, the holder may be suspended from any suitable support, so it will assume a horizontal position. The neck of a bottle is inserted through the open end of the holder and moved along the slot until it engages the stop 10. The beading around the neck of the bottle will rest on the flanges 9 and the cover plate, by reason of its resiliency, we
will bear against the mouth of the bottle holding the same against casual or accidental displacement. To carry the bottle the holder may be detached from the bracket and will afford a hand grip for grasping the same.
Having thus fully described my invention what I claim is:
1. A bottle holder comprising a hollow body having a slotted bottom to receivethe o neck of a bottle, and a yieldable cover plate disposed above said slot, said plate having e hook at its forwer. em'i engaging thetop of said body. Y
2. A bottie noisier comprising a hollow body having a slotted bottom to receive the neck of a bottle, end. yieidebie cove? piste horizontally dispesed Within said and above said slot, seioi piste having its for- Ward end curved upwardly and bent over the edge of the top of said body.
3. A bottle holder com orising hollow body heving a slotted bottom to receive the neck of e boitie, and e spring cover pie-is join d; to the fiorwefd edge of the bedy and Q extenciiiig rearwerdly Wiehin said body.
e. A bottle holei' comprising a hollow be having e sioi'zted bottom t0 receive the of e bottle, a spring cover plate ex- A fng Wiiilii'l seidbody, said plate having hooli'engeging the forward edge of .the top of said body, and spring depressions joining said hook to said top.
In testimony whereof I efiix my signature.
V ANTHONY SCPJLLO.
