This invention relates to certain new and.
useful improvements in vaults, and the primary object thereof is to provide a vault structure which is of strong and. rigid construction and which has improved means for excluding air and moisture.
A further object of the invention is to provide a structure which is com osed of nested innerv and out/er members w ich are ilgidly connected by aninterposed plastic er, the latter being interlocked with each of the members and serving to afford -an insulation about. the inner membermto prevent the ingress thereto of air, water or moisture.
A still `further object of the invention is to provide a vault which has means forenabling air to be exhausted from the interior of the inner or casket-holding member so as 0 create a vacuum within the inner memer. L

in proceeding in accordance with the present invention, an outer member is employed having a bottom 1, sides 2, and ends G 3 and a top 4. `Tle inner member is located within the Vouter member and is formed to have a bottom 5, sides 6, ends 7 and a top 8.
- The inner member is of a size to receive the casket and is spaced at its bottom, sides, ends f5 and top from the'corresponding parts of the outer member. The inner faces ofthe sides andrends of the outer member are formed with dove-tail grooves 9iand the outer faces of the sides and ends of the inner member so are formed with'similar dovetail grooves 10. The grooves are all verticallydisposed and are, with the spaces7 existing between the two members, enea with a' hindern which may be liquid tar or asphalt or any other suitable composition which can be poured into place and'which solidifies or hardens so as to rigl idly connect the two members, and at-'the same time 'acts as,I an insulation to exclude air and moisture from the inner member.`
