BENJAMIN BURY, or FALL RIVER, MASSACHUSETTS.
Y IMPROVEMENT IN LOOM-PICKER STICK-CHECKS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 149,099, dated March 31, 1874; application filed March 7, 1874.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, BENJAMIN BURY, of Fall River, in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Check Motion for the picker-staff which serves to throw the shuttle back and forth. 0 is a metallic plate, having two arms, D D. This plate is attached permanently to the beam at the end of the shuttle-box by means of screws, as seen in Bis.
the drawing. To the arms E a donble cord, E, is attached. F is the check-bar, which is passed between the two cords E, by means ofwhich the cord is twisted, as seen in the drawing, to any desired degree of tension, thereby forming a perfect and durable spring, the action of which is imparted to the picker-staff by the bar F. The bar crosses the picker-stafl slot so as to catch and stop the staff about one and a half inches before it gets to the end of the slot. This is a positive check, cheap and durable, and easily repaired when out of order.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The picker-check mechanism, consisting of the plate 0, arms D, cord E, and bar F, in combination with a loom, Substantially as and for the purpose described.
