UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRANK P. KLESH'IOK, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
FAN COVER.
Application flled February 8, 1928. Serial No. 817,701.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK P. KLnsmoK, a citizenof the United States residing at Philadelphia, in the county of lhiladelphia and State of Pennsylvanla, have invented certain new and useful Im rovements in Fan Covers, of which the ollowing'is a specification.
My invention relates to fan covers especially adapted for use on electric fans, and
has for its object to provide a cover which will protect the fan from dust, dirt, moisture, etc., when not in use, and of a construction which may be used to cover a fan on a shelf or a wall.
This object, and other advantageous ends which will be described hereinafter, I attain in the following manner, reference being had to the accompanying drawings in ao,which- Figure 1 is a central section through a cover embodying my invention and having diagrammatically the outline of a fan on a wall or shelf,
Figure 2 a section on line 2--2 of Figure 1,
Figure 3 a section on line 3-3 of Figure 1, v Figure 4 a developed plan view of the back part of the cover,
Figure 5 a developed plan view of the front part of the cover,
Figure 6 a developed plan view of the side band which connects the front to the back part,
Figure 7 a developed plan view of an outer skirt part,
Figure 8 a developed plan view of an inner-skirt part,
Figure 9 a developed plan view of the back flap,
Figure 10 a side flap, and
Figure 11 a developed plan view of the skirt flap.
Referring to the drawings 1 is a circular front connected by a side band 2 with a circular back 3 by stitching, riveting, cementing or any other suitable means. The back is-provided with a slit 4 leading from its circumference to an opening 5 around which is secured an outer skirt 6 having its meeting edges 7 adjacent the slit and its bottom edge 8 hemmed. An inner skirt 9 is secured within the 'outer skirt and has its bottom edge 10 hemmed. Cords are developed plan view of the passed through the helm for drawing them tightly around the fan frame. The inner skirt serves as an additional seal of the cover to the frame. The connection between the side band and the back is partly detachable, preferably through one ha f the circumference as shown at 11, to permit the cover to be placed over the fan. The detachable connection 11, slit 4 and the meeting edges 7 of the outer skirt, which will hereafter be called detachable parts, are provided with snap fasteners or other suitable holding means. A flap 12 is secured to the side band and covers the detachable part 11 between the band and the back. A flap 13 is secured to the back and covers the detachable part at the slit 4. A flap 14: is secured to the skirt and covers the detachable part of its edges 7. When the cover is in use on a fan which rests on a shelf or is secured to a wall, the cords of the skirts are drawn taut about the frame and the fasteners sna ped together; the flaps serving as an ad itional means for keepin out dust and dirt that might pass throng the detachable parts.
While I have described my invention as taking a particular form, it will be understood that the various parts of my invention may be changed without departing from the spirit thereof, and hence I do not limit myself to the precise construction set forth,
but consider that I am at liberty to make such changes and alterations as fairly come within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is fan cover comprising a front; a
back; a side band connecting with the front and back; a skirt depending from the back; detachable parts for permitting the cover to be placed on a fan, and means for connecting the detachable parts.
2. A fan cover comprising a front; a hack; a side band connecting with the front and back; an outer skirt depending from the back; an inner skirt within the outer skirt;
detachable parts for permitting the cover to be placed on the fan, and means for connecting the detachable parts.
3. A fan cover comprising a front; a back; a side band connecting with the front and back; an outer skirt depending from the ing the detachable parts, and flaps adapted to cover the joints of the detachable parts.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
