Description

April 1 1924. 1,489,209
T. L. HANSEN PLOW Filed Aug. 8, 1921 WITNESS:
Patented Apr. 1, 1924.
UNITED STATES THOR'V'ALD L. HANSEN, 01? WHITE BEAR LAKE, MINNESOTA.
PLOW.
Application filed August 8, 1921. 'Serial No. 490,691.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THoRvALn L. HAN- SEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at White Bear Lake, in the county of Ramsey and State of Minnesota, have invented new and useful Improvements in Plows, of which the following is a specification.
-This invention. relates to improvements in plows, the principal object of the invention being to provide a reversible point for the plow so that it can be turned over when worn, with means for detachably connecting the point to the plow.
Another object of the invention is to provide a mold board with a reversible and detachable share so that this can be reversed when worn and the unworn side brought into use.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended clai In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which v Figure 1 is a side view of a plow constructed in accordance with my invention.
Figure 2 is a bottom' plan view thereof.
Figure 3 is a view of the share. 7
Figure 4 is a view of the point.
In these views 1 indicates the mold board of the plow and 2 the land side thereof. These parts are secured to the beam 3 and the handles 4 in the usual or any desired manner. The point 5 is made detachable and of substantially wedge shape with its rear V-shaped, as shown at 6. The sides of the point are inclined, as shown at5. An ear 7 is formed on the rear part of the point and this ear is provided with a slot 8 for receiving the hooked end of the screw.
threaded rod 9 which passes through a bracket 10 secured to the mold board land side of the plow. A small wheel 11 has its 7 is worn it may be reversed to bring the unworn face lowermost so that the point can be used until it becomes so short that it must be discarded and a new one substituted.
I also form the mold board with a detachable and reversible share 12 which is bolted in position by the bolts 13. This share has its ends diverging downwardly with either end adapted to engage the inclined side edge of the point. As the share becomes worn it may be reversed to bring the unworn side into use and when both sides are badly worn an entirely new share is to be placed on the plow.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention'will be readily apparent.
I, desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the :several parts, provided that such changes fall within the Scope of the appended claim.
What I claim is A plow of the character described com-' prising a mold board, a reversible share secured to its lower extremity and provided with ends which diverge downwardly, an invertible wedge shaped point engaging the adjacent end of. said share and provided with a V-shaped rear end having its walls downwardly and inwardly inclinechan ear projecting from the apex of the V-shaped end and provided with a slot, and means adjustably secured to the mold board and land side of the plow and associated with the share through the medium of the slot as and for the purpose specified.
In testimonywhereof I aflix my signature.
THORVALD L. HANSEN.
