To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, THEODORE S. Jones, a citizen of the United States, residin at Noxen, in the county of Wyoming and tate of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Broom Ratchets or Holders, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.

This invention relates to a broom holder, and the object of the invention is the construction of a simple and efficient broom holder that can be easily fastened to a wall or other suitable support and which will make it possible to suspend a broom or like article above a floor, or in any closet or compartment suitable for such purpose.

It is to be understood that I do not necesother articles could be as easily supported or suspended by my device, such as a rake, or

hoe, or the like.

With the foregoing and other objects in view, my invention comprises certain novel combinations, constructions and arrangements of parts as will be hereinafter described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and more particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of a device constructed in accordance with the present invention.

Referring to the drawings by numerals, 1 is the casing which comprises a vertical back 2 and upper and lower arms 3 and 4, respectively. I

In the back 2 is a horizontal aperture 5 which is provided for receiving a suitable fastening device, such as a tack or nail, for securing the entire device to a support or wall.

Positioned in the arms 3 and 4 are a pair of shafts 6, each of which is provided with an upper head 7 and a lower head 8. The shaft 6 is provided near its upper end contiguous to the head 7, with a series of notches 9. Mounted on each shaft 6 is a rubber ball 10. The ball 10 has portions seated in registering notches 9, (Fig. 2), which prevents the ball from creeping upon shaft 6, keeping the ball in a true position upon the shaf so as to properly space the same between the upper and lower arms. This prevents any friction of the ball against the arms, and allows of the ready placing of the broom handle (or like device) 030 .11 between the balls, as shown in Fig. 1. In Fig. 2 the dotted line A shows how the ball 10 may be adjusted upon the shaft 6, to keep it in true alignment with the other ball and also to keep it free from rubbing as same for holding the article in a suspended position.

It is to be understood that the pins or shafts 6 are movable longitudinally and that the balls 10 are adjustable longitudinally upon these shafts. notches 9 permit the balls to be retained in spaced relation to the arms 3 and 4 by proper adjustment upon the shafts. When my device is being made the shafts are put in place the heads 8 formed by being struck so with a hammer. It will thus be seen that there will be no way of determining just how large the heads will be or what the distance between the heads 7 and 8 will be.

It is desired to-permit the shafts to have a slight longitudinal movement without the balls contacting with the arms 3 and 4 and, therefore, the balls have been adjustably mounted as shown. It should be further noted that this permits the balls to vary so somewhat in diameter.

While I have described the preferred embodiment of my invention, and have illustrated the same in the accompanying drawings, certain minor changes or alterations alterations or changes as shall fairly fall within the scope of the appended claims.

What I claim is: 1. In a broom holder the combination of a casing, shafts on said casing spaced transversely of each other and adapted to have a slight longitudinal movement, and balls on said shafts adjustable longitudinally thereof.

As a new article of manufacture, a broom holder comprising a casing including a back and horizontal, parallel, upper and lower arms, a pair of vertical shafts extending through said arms, each shaft provided with an upper and a lower head, each shaft adapted to have a slight bodily movement upon the arms, each "shaft provided contiguous to the upper head with a series of notches, a rubber ball on each shaft and adapted to have portions positioned in said notches for holding the ball against accidental adjustment on said shafts, and said casing provided with an aperture for receiving support attaching means, substantially as shown and described. 7
