The invention has relation to poultry coops of collapsible houses or kennels, especially adapted to be made ofwood, and for use with poultry, dogs, hogs, and the like, or for use as a garage in a larger structure, an object being to provide an improved house of this description, which may be readily put together or taken down by an unskilled person, which is easily opened for cleaning and airing, is rain and weatherproof, well ventilated, of simple constructure and capable of economical manufacture.
' Other objects and advantages will herein- Be it known that I, JOHN L. llmnows,
after appear.
The invention consists in the novel construction and combination of parts, as hereinafter set forth.
In the accompanying drawings illustratmg the invention, the numeral 1 designates opposite rectangular sides, and 2 opposite ends having each a tapered top portion 2*, said sides and ends having detachable corner connection with each other, the material used being preferably wood, and marginal grooves 3 being formed in one of said parts and engaged by the adjacent edge portion of the other part in making the connection, it being preferred to have the joint of dovetailed nature or other lock joint form, as shown in Figures 8 and 9 of the drawings, in order that when the opposite sides and ends are connected up or slid together, these parts will remain connected up in box form.
The sides 1 of the coop are provided at their lower edges with lnward projecting flanges or cleats 4, whereon rests the bottom 5 of the coop, these cleats or flanges projecting at their outer ends at 6, beyond said bottom, and the ends 2 of the coop resting upon said projections 6.
Resting upon the inclined top edges 2 of the coop ends and projecting over the sides 1, are the roof sections 7, each of rectanguuar form and having lower cleats 8, fitting within said ends, and at their lower ends abutting against the coop sides 1 to limit the downward movement, and abutting also against the coop ends to limit the endwise movement, the abutment against the coop sides being through the medium of vertical cleats 9, carried by said sides and forming an element of the lock joint shown in Figure 8, said vertical cleats having upper notches 10, with which the lower beveled ends 8 of said cleats engage,'as shown in Figure 2.
The roof sections 7 are spaced apart at their upper ends by an interval 7", and fitting thereover and closing said interval is a longitudinal top section 11, the ends 12 of which have a lapping-engagement with the upper edge portions of said end sections as shown in Figure 2, the engaging parts being reduced to bring them into the same plane, and a hook connection'13'being provided at each end to hold the top section and the end sections together.
The top section 11 has parallel sides 14,
spaced'apart toac ordwith the aforesaid i-uofthe sides 1, whereby the bottom is 4 with which grooves'h ofthe coop bottommay engage, as shown inFiguraQ.
.The coop beingcrated, and it b d sired to lift it from the crate, the .top sectionbeing lifted, will lift the coop ends owing to hookconnections 13-, and will lift the roof s'ectionsand the coop sides, owing toen agg -.nient or'cleats 8 with the notches of cleats T9, as stated. 7
Thercoop rests upon. the longitudinal cleats raised from the ground The coop, ends 2 resting upon the cleat extensions 6 and havingcorner connection with the vcoop sides 1, will prevent displacement of said ends relative to said sides,,and hold the ends and,
sides in box form. This construction also facilitates lifting the bottom 5 between said ends. and sides withoutdisturbing the box formation of saidendsflfind sides.
A modification, of the invention isshown innFrigures l3and14,1wherein the coop ends 2 are provided upon their: inner. .sides .with pe'ntrn vertical cleats. .18, [extending upiwarjdly, above said ends lat 18 the top secti on 7 havingits ends located outside. said extensions'lf andinthe same planeasjthe I coop ends, with which they h'ave'ihookconnection 13*.
This coop has interchangeable ends, sides,
top sections,- roof sections and floor; or bottom section, and slides apart andsta'cks together in a very small'spacano toolsbeing "the roof sections or top boardsare slid "out required to set the coop up ortake, it down. l' e y n w a her preqt P l ing joint is not of lockforin, but is provided with a hook 19 to hold the parts together.
In the modification of the invention shown in Figures 12 and 13, hook connection 13' of'theends and bottom of the coop is desirable, to facilitate the lifting of the coop as a whole.

5. In a collapsible house, opposite sides having lower cleats, a bottom resting upon said cleats, the cleats projecting endwise beyond said bottom, and opposite ends having corner joint connection. with said sides and resting upon the ends of said cleats, said corner joint connection being adapted to hold said opposite ends and sides in box form with said bottom removed therefrom, said opposite ends having tapered upper portions, inclined roof sections resting thereon and having engagement with said opposite sides adapted to resist a straight upward lift of the roof sections, and a top section resting upon the upper edges of the roof sections and having detachable connection with the coop ends.
6. In a collapsible house, opposite sides having lower cleats, a bottom resting upon said cleats, the cleats projecting endwise beyond said bottom, and opposite ends hav ing corner joint connection with said sides 1 portions, and inclined roof sections resting thereon and having cleats abutting at their lower ends against said opposite sides and laterally against said opposite ends.
7. In a collapsible house, opposite sides having lower cleats, a bottom resting upon said cleats, the cleats projecting endwise beyond said bottom, and opposite ends having corner joint connection with said sides and resting upon the ends of said cleats, said corner joint connection being adapted to hold said opposite ends and sides in box form with said bottom removed therefrom,
said opposite ends having tapered upper portions, inclined roof sections resting thereon, and a longitudinal top section connecting said ends and lapping over said roof sections.
In testimony whereof I aifix my signature.
