Be it known that I, THEODORE. W. Fosrnn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Providence, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fasteners, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates toflexible, extensible bracelets more particularly of that class which is provided with pendants, one of the pendant connectors being adapted to slide through an eyelet or loop on the opposite end of the bracelet, to permit the separating of the bracelet ends to permit the bracelet to be readily passed over the hand of the wearer, and the object of this invention is to provide simple and efiective means whereby the ends of such a bracelet may be releasably connected together when in operative position to prevent the ends from separating and the bracelet from becoming lost by being thrown or dropped from the wrist of the wearer.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists of certain novel features of construction, as will be more fully described, and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

In the accompanying drawings:

Figure 1 is a perspective View illustrating the ends of a bracelet as being releasably locked or retained in closed position.

Figure 2 illustrates the end portions of a bracelet as being released from the locking device permitting them to be freely moved to open position by drawing the flexible connector which is attached to one end of the bracelet through the eye or loop on the opposite end thereof.

It is found in practice that where a flexible bracelet is used having its ends joined simply by a pendant member through a flexible connector, that such a connector is too readily drawn through its eye or loop permitting the ends to separate and the bracelet to be lost from the wrist; to obviate this objection I have provided a simple and effective means whereby these bracelet ends may be releasably locked or connected together so that their ends cannot be accidentally separated thereby effectually preventin the bracelet from being lost, and the following is a detailed description of one Serial No. 523,733.

In each of these pieces I have connected a loop or eye 12 and 13-. In the eye 12 I have connected an elongated resilient loop member 1 1;, preferably formed of wire, bent to provide a retaining shoulder 15, the opposite end 16 of the loop being left free to permit the ring or eye 17 to be forced or sprung thereover.

In this loop 1 1 I have connected one end of a chain '18 which extends through the ring or eye 17 on the opposite end of the bracelet, the opposite end of the connector belng attached to a pendant 19 whereby when it is desired to draw the ends of the whereby the ends of the bracelet are detachably locked together to prevent them from accidentally separating and so prevent loss of the bracelet, which when enlarged by the slipping .of the connector through the ring or eye 17, is liable to be thrown or dropped 35 from the wrist of the wearer.

In order to render the bracelet more attractive in appearance I have attached another pendant 20 to the ring or eye 17,

which hangs with the pendant 19 when the ends of the bracelet are in closed position as illustrated in Figure 1, also to render thebracelet still more ornamental I have shown an ornamental saddle member 21 which is adjustably mounted on the body of the bracelet.

My improved locking device for the ends of a flexible bracelet is extremely simple and practical in construction and effective in its operation and by its use the ends of a bracelet may be securely locked together and prevented from separating when under tension or strain.

but I desire it to be understood that I reserve the privilege of resortin to all the mechanical changes to which e device is susceptible, the invention being defined and limited only by the terms of the appended claims.

I claim:

1. A fastener comprising an eye member, a fastener member adapted to engage said eye, a flexible member passed through said eye and connected With said fastener, and a stop on said flexible member limiting movement thereof in one direction through said eye.

2. A fastener comprising an eye member, means for securing said eye to an element, a fastener member adapted to engage said eye, means for securing said eye to an element, and a chain carried by the fastener and; extending through said eye and having an enlargement on its outer end to engage the eye and limit the movement thereof in one direction.

3. A fastener including an eye member. a fastener member for engaging said eye comprising a resilient loop having a shoul-- der thereon to releasably retain said fastener in said eye, and a flexible member carried by said loop and passed through said eye and having an enlargement on its outer end to limit the separating movement of said fastener members.

4. A fastener comprising an eye member, a Wire loop pointed atone end and provided With oppositely extending yieldingshoulders for engaging and releasably retaining said fastener in the eye, and a flexible member carried by the fastener and passed through the eye and having a stop member on its outer portion to engage the eye and limit the separating opening movementv of said members.

5. A fastener comprising a ring member having an attaching socket yield'ably con-- nected thereto, a yieldable fastener for engaging the ring and having an attaching.
