3. A slightly tapered pressure pin.

The outside diameter of the tube 2 corresponds to the inside diameter of the sleeve 3, so that the tube 2 may be pushed -Wltll a tight fit into the tube 3. The connection between the heel and the sole of the shoe 1s carried out in the following manner:

The tube 3 is inserted through the bottom end mto the hole in the heel, so that. its plate 3 is located in a suitable recess provided in the heel. The tube 2 is passed throu h the hole in the sole S and pushed into t e hole of the heel until the plate 1 rests closely upon the sole. Now the end of the tube 2 is inserted into the tube 3 and the heel is pushedtoward the shoe until the former rests with a good fit on the sole S of the shoe. Now the reduced end of the pressure pin 4: is inserted into the open bottom end of the tube 3 and is forced into the slotted tube 2 to such an extent, that the outside end of the pin 4 lies flush with the plate 3*. The pin is of such dimensions, that its slightly tapered part, which extends into the inner tube 2, will force with great force particularly the slotted and therefore springy parts of the tube 2 apart and press the same against the inside wall of the tube 3, so that the pin 4, inner tube 2 and outer tube 3 are interengaged'with one another in such a manner, that the disengagement of the connection is rendered impossible.

1. A device forsecuring the heels of shoes or boots, comprising in combination an outer tube provided with a plate on one of its ends, an inner tube furnished with a plate on one of its ends, the said tubes being 1; adapted to slide over one another with a tight fit, and a pin adapted to be driven into the said inner tube to press the latter against the outer tube in such a manner that a disengagement of the connection between the said tubes and pin is rendered very diflicult.

2. A device for securing the heels of shoes or boots, comprising in combination an outer tube provided with a plate on one of its ends, a slottedinner tube furnished with a plate on one of its ends, the said tubes being adapted to slide over one another with a tight fit, and a pin adapted to be driven into the said inner tube to press the latter against the outer tube in such a manner To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HANS ELLENBOHN, a citizen of the Republic of Austria, residing at Vienna, in the Republic of Austria, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in 9. Device for Securing the Heels of Shoes or Boots, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to an arrangement for securing heels to boots or shoes.

It has been found that especially the high den down and subsequentl will break ofi owing to the abnormal strain to which they are subjected.

The present invention has for its object to provide a connection between the shoe and heel, which establishes an absolutely secure and firm hold and also will act asa means for strengthening thereby preventing the breaking ofi? even of very high heels.

According to the present invention the arrangement consists of two telescoping tubes are provided with positioning plates, the inner tube being fuinished with a slot and, pressed against the outer tube by a pin adapted to be driven in through the treading surface of the heel.

The drawing shows one mode of carrying out the invention.

Fig. 1 is a sectional view of a heel secured to a shoe in accordance with the invention. Figs. 2 and 3 illustrate the two main-parts of the attaching device.

Fig. 4.- shows the pressure-pin for establishing the connection.

A designates the heel which is to be secured to the shoe and is provided with a cylindrically shaped inclined hole, the latter extending through the entire height of the heel. S designates the sole of the shoe also furnished with a hole which is in alignment with the hole in the heel. B desig nates the upper.

The attachment device comprises three parts, viz

1. The cylindrically shaped tube 2, which is provided at its top end with a plate 1, riveted, welded or in any other convenient manner secured to the said top end of the tube, the latter being open at the bottom end and slotted at 2.

2. A second tube 3 formed at the bottom end witha plate 3*, and

that a disenga ment of the connection betubes and pin is rendered of its ends, an inner tube furnished with a plate on one of its ends, the said tubes being ada ted to slide over one another with a tight t, and a tapered pin adapted to be driven into the said inner tube to pres the latter against the outer tube in such a manner that a disengagement of the connection between the said tubes and pin. is rendered very difiicult.

4. A device for securing the heels of shoes or boots, comprising in combination an outer tube provided with a plate on'one of its ends, a slotted inner tube furnished with a late on one of its ends, the said tubes being adapted to slide over one another with a tight fit, and a tapered pin adapted to be driven into the said inner tube to press the latter against the outer tube in such a manner that a disengagement of the connection between the said tubes and pin is rendered ver difiicult.

5. The combination with a s cc sole having an opening in the heel portion and a shoe heel having an opening extending from top to bottom of the heel; of a securin device comprisin a pair of telescopica 1y engaged tub ar members one of which extends through the opening in the sole and the other of which lies in the opening of the heel, and means to expand the engaged end of the inner member against the engaged portion of the outer member.

The combination with a shoe sole having an opening in the heel portion and a shoe heel having an opening extending from top to bottom of the. heel; of a tubular member extending from the bottom of the heel upwardly in the heel opening and provided with a plate at its lower end to limit its u ward movement in the heel, a second tubulir member extending downwardly through the opening in the sole and rovided at its upper end with a plate to limit its downward movement through the sole said second member having its lower end fitted telescopically into the u per end of the first member, the lower end of the second member being split, andimeans within the first member to. expand the s lit portion of the second member and orce the same into engagement with the wall of the first member.

8. A device for securing heels to shoes comprising a tubular member adapted to extend upwardly in a shoe heel and havi means to limit its movement in the heel, a second tubular member adapted to extend through a shoe sole and downwardly into the heel to bring its lower end into telescopic engagement with the upper end of the first member, and means to expand the lower end of the second member into ti ht engagement with the upper end of the rst mem r.

9. A device for securing heels to shoes comprising a tubular member adapted to extend upwardly in a shoe heel and having means to limit its movement in the heel, a second tubular member adapted to extend through a shoe sole and downwardly into the heel to bring its lower end into telescopic engagement with the upper end of the first member, and means to expand the lower end of the second member into ti ht engagement with the upper end of the m member, said means comprising a pin adapted to fit closely in the lower art of the first member and provided wit a tepered end entering the lower part of the second member.
