Description
Patented Nov. 2Q, 1923.

moannca man co oroaknann, cannons DEZPILATORY COMPOUND.
No Drawing. Application filed January 31, 1917, Serial No. 14:5,731. Renewed July 14, 1928.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FLORENCE MYRA COHAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oakland, in the county of Alameda 5 and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Depilatory Compounds, of which the following is a' specification.
This invention is a compound for treating the face to eliminate hair permanently therefrom. v
The compound includes two sub-compounds, one sub-compound for removing the hair from the face, and another sub-compound for preventing further growth of hair after the hair has been removed.
The compound includes the following ingredients inthe proportions substantially as indicated:
Oil of garden lavender drops These ingredients are combined as follows I The rosin is placed in a sterilized vessel and allowed to melt at a low temperature, preferably over a water bath. In the meantime the wax is melted in a separate vessel and the rosin is slowly added thereto, the two being thoroughly mixed by stirring. The mixture of rosin and wax is then a lowed to remain heated for fifteen minutes at a moderate temperature, but at no time 4 is it allowed to boil. It is then allowed to cool for'ten minutes and before it loses its fluidity two drachms of oil of cloves is added. This is thoroughly mixed and the re-.
sultant product is poured into moulds and allowed to cool. This combination constiplutes the sub-compound for removing the air. 7 t I The lime water and oil of terebinthinac are thoroughly mixed by agitation or shaking, and then are added the peroxide of hydrogen and oil of lavender and tincture of cud oughly mixed by shaking and bottled separately from the rosin and Waxed mixture. The combination constitutes the sub-comlowed to remain until it has been cooled,
when by'quick motion it is removed, carrying with it the hair from that spot. This leaves the hair duct open when the liquid second mentioned is applied and is readily absorbed by the open hair duct and harmlessly prevents the further growth by its action on the roots.
I claim as new and wish to cover by Letters Patent 0 1. A compound consisting of a major portion of lime water and'smaller portions of oil of terebinthinee, and peroxide of hydrogen, said compound preventing the growth of hair on surfaces from which hair has been removed, and for soothing said surface.
2. A compound for use in depilatory treatments consisting of a major portion of lime water, smaller portions of -oil of terebinthinae and peroxide of hydrogen mixed with desired proportions of tincture of cudbar and oil of lavender, said com-' pound preventing the growth of hair and soothing rough surfaces of the skin.
In testimony whereof I afiix 'my signature.
