TOILET ACCESSORY.

a State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Toilet Accessories, of which the following is a specifi cation.

My invention has reference to a support 1 for toilet articles.

An object is to produce a device of this character which may be cheaply constructed and marketed and which may be attached to a wall or other-support in a bath or other room without inflicting injury thereto.

A further object is to produce a support for toilet articles which is of an ornamental nature, and which is provided with means for removably sustaining thereon soap, atumbler, tooth or nail brushes and a wash cloth or towel.

A further object is to produce a support for toilet articles that comprises a flat body having upper and lower flanged shelves extending therefrom for the reception of a tumbler and soap, and which has hingedly secured in a novel manner to the sides of and between the shelves a U-shaped member that provides a support for a wash towel or cloth, means being provided for sustaining the said member in horizontal position when the towel is arranged thereon, and said memher being susceptible to upward swinging against the support for fully disclosing the shelves, while means is provided upon the sides of the body for supporting thereon V tooth or nail brushes.

To the attainment of the foregoing, and other objects which will present themselves as the nature of the invention is better understood, reference is to be had to the drawing which accompanies and which forms part of this application.

The body member 1 of my improvement is in the nature of a flat plate and may be constructed of wood, metal or other suitable material. The body member 1 is ornamented by having its upper corners rounded and curved inwardly toward the top thereof and its lower edge centrally formed with a rounded extension. there is secured the disk-like base 2 of an arm 3 that has secured thereon a flanged shelf 4. The shelf is in the nature of :a soap dish and is designed to contain a cake of soap.

Above the dish 4 the body is provided with an outwardly projecting shelf 5. This shelf has its upper edge rounded and has its top formed with a rounded depression 6.

The flanged shelf 5 is designed to support thereon a tumbler 7.

On the sides of the body there are yokelike extensions 8 respectively, and these yoke members are designed to receive therethrough the handle portions of brushes. One of such brushes, indicated by the numeral 9, is shown supported in Figure 1 of the drawing. The yokes 8 are of a size to receive the handles of either tooth or finger brushes.

Below the shelf 5 the body 1 is provided with openings 10 for the reception of securing elements whereby the device may be attached to a support.

The body 1, from its upper edge and ad 'jacent to its rounded corners, is grooved, as at 11, the said grooves communicating with elongated openings 12. On its rear face the body 1 has grooves 13 which communicate with but are directed inwardly from the openings 12.

The grooves 13 are designed to provide bearings for angle fingers 14- on the ends of parallel arms 15 of a substantially U-shaped wire member 16. Suitable means, such as staples 17 hold the angle ends or fingers 14 of the U-shaped member in the bearing grooves 13. The elements 17 are driven fully into the body to offer no rough projections which might mar the surface on which the body 1 is secured. The wire member 16 embodies a natural resiliency so that the arms 15 thereof have a tendency to spring away from each other. Because of this, when the member 16 is swung to vertical position, as disclosed by the full lines in Figure 2, and the dotted lines in Figure 1, the arms 15 thereof will contact with the outer walls of the grooves 11 for effectively sustaining the member 16 in such position.

On its outer face, and having their upper edges in a line with the lower walls of the openings 12, the body 1 is provided with ornamental brackets 18 which provide a support for the U-shaped member 16 when the same is swung to horizontal position.

When in such position the member 16 provides a support for a wash cloth or towel, and after the same is removed therefrom the member 16 is swung to vertical position so that free access may be obtained to the flanged shelf providing the soap dish. When in this position the ,U-shaped member is disposed to the rear'of the tumbler 7 so that the same will not interfere with the placing of the tumbler on the shelf 5 or its removal therefrom.

With my improvement, a comparatively great number of toilet requisites may be supported in a convenient manner for the user thereof, and it is thought that the foregoing description When taken in connection with the drawing will fully set forth the advantages oi my device to those skilled in the art to which the same relates.

The U-shaped member 16, while necessarily resilient, may be of an inherent non corrosive nature or may be treated with a non corros1ve plating. The member 16 is naturally of a comparatively great length, that is of such length as to provide an obstruction when swung to operative horizon tal position, but when in such position the towels may be arranged upon the arms thereof Without obstructing free access to the soap in the flanged tray 4. When the arms are swung to vertical position, the improvement offers practically no obstruction to persons in the room in which it is used, as the shelves 4: and 5 project only a slight distance from the body member 1.

Having described claim 1-- In a device for the purpose set forth, a flat body member having aligning slots and grooves, and a U-shaped spring member whose parallel arms are received through the slots and pivoted to the rear of the body, neans onthe body supporting the arms of the il -shaped member when the latter is swung outwardly therefrom, and the arms of the said member designed to exert a pres-- sure against the walls of the grooves when the member is swung into the said grooves.
