The present invention relates to reenforcing means.

The present invention has been illustrated in connection' with a drawer of a wardrobe trunk. 1t is common practice to reinforce the edges of such drawers with strips of metal fastened to adjacent sides thereof,

' whereby to reduce the danger of the sides of the drawer pulling apart in service.

An object of the present invention is to provide reenforcing means for drawers, boxes or similar articles which presents a good appearance and which will eectually prevent the pulling apart of the sides of said drawer or other article.

A further object is to provide a reenforcing means which will present a good appearance on the front side of the drawer and which will present no outstanding edges on said front side.

Further objects will appear as the description proceeds.

rllhe numeral 10 indicates a drawer or box having the front member 11 and the side members 12-12. rllhe bottom member of said drawer or box is indicated by the numeral 18. r1`he various members which go to make up the box 10 will be suitably joined togetl er, as for instance, by means of cement and nails, the joints between certain of the members being reinforced by metal strips to prevent said members from pulling apart. be made from a blank such as illustrated in Figure el, which may be considered as being divided into three longitudinal sections 15, 16 and 17 indicated by the broken lines 15 and 16. The section 16 has a tongue 18 which projects beyond the boundaries of strips 15 and 17.

ln applying the metal strip 1li to the box or drawer 10, the section 15 is applied to the edge of the member 11 with that side of the section 15 which faces the observer in Figure placed against the member 11. r1`he section 15 is attached to the member 11 by means of taclrs indicated by the numeral 18 in Figure 1. The strip 111 may then be bent along the line indicated by the dotted line 15 to a position parallel and in-contact with the section 15. rihe strip 1li is then bent again along the line indicated by the dotted line 16 which line will coincide with the edge between the front member 11 and side member 12. rEhe section 17 will be moved into contact with the end member 12 and will be. fastened thereto bv means of the tacks 20-20. The tongue 19 will be bent around the lower edge of the front member 11 and will be held in contact with the bottom of the drawer or box by means of the tack 21. The end member 12 will preferably have reenforcing connection with the bottom member 13 by means of the reenforcing strip 2 2--22 which is bent along the line marking the edge of side member 12 and bottom member 18. Said reenforcing member 22 will be attached by means of tacks and will overlap the lower end of strip 17 and tongue 19 of the reenforcing strip 14. lt will be clear, of course, that the section 16, instead of lying flat against section 15 may be given other conformations whereby to present an improved appearance.

The present invention has the advantage that the tacks holding the reenforcing member 11 to the front side of the drawer or box will be invisible and has the further advantage that no outstanding sharp edges will appear on the front of the said drawer or box. T e turned over tongue 19 will securely hold the strip 1li in place at the bottom edge of the front member 14 and the double ply of material presented at the front of the drawer or boX provides a very strong and durable reinforcement.
