Description

HAWBQ? D. M. HOLBROOK AUTOMATIC FAUGET Filed Dec. 26. 1922 INVENTOR 0A W0 M HOLE/900K.
ATTORNEY lletented Nov. 6, $23.
DAVID Ed. HQLBROOK, U35 PORTEAND, EN.
AUTOMATIG FAUCET.
Application filed hecember 26, 1922. serial Ito. 6633M.
To all whom it may cancer n:
Be it known that l, Dnvin M. Honnnoon, a citizen of the United States, residin at Portland, county of Multnomah, and tate of Oregon, and whose postoffice address is 41.15 Jessup Street, Portland, ()regon, have invented a new and useful Automatic Faucet, of which the following is the specification.
My invention is a device of such construction that water may flow automatically throu h this said device into a container,
. and t e container with the water contained therein, by its wei ht, will automatically stop the flow of t e water through the faucet.
The object-oi my invention is to construct a device that will fit upon the water pipes, and attached to the faucet is a hook to which will be suspended on one endthereof a trough suitable for stock or-poultry, and it is regulated so that when the trough so suspended is filled with water near the top' the weight of the trough and the water, by means of a spring, will close down the piston and thereby sto the flow of water, as
' soon as the water is ow in the trou h the weight will let up on the piston t ereby allowing more water to. flow.
ll obtained these objects in. the manner illustrated in the secure anying drawings and set forth in the speci cations following.
Referrin to the drawings:
Figure is the end elevation of the faucot and trough.
Fine H is a'sectional elevation of H- H c Figure 1.
Similar letters and numerals of reference refer to the some or similar parts throughout the several views.
No. is the faucet body.
No.5 is the upmr flanges.
No. 5 is the lower lugs.
No. 6 is the receiving opening.
No. 7 is the discharge opening.
No. 7 is the discharge pipe.
No. 8 is the piston.
hlo. 9 is the valve rubber.
No. 10 is the valve seat.
No. 31 is the panage.
No. 12 is the yoke.
No. 13 is t screw ends.
Ho. id is the h-holts.
life. 15 are the thumb nuts.
lilo. 1d the nuts...
lie. 1? is e epriw No. 18 is the hook.
No. 18 is the revolved position.
No. 19 is the hub of hook.
No. 20 is the eccentric lug.
No. 21 is the water trough.
No. 22 is the suspending means.
The body is constructed in one piece having at the upper end the lugs 5* and at the lower end the lugs 5" and having a receiving opening to the intake of the water 6, and the discharge pipe 7 at the top and between lugs 5 i an opening extending from the top down through the body at right angles to the opening 6 to a point at the bottom of the said openin 6 extending into which said opening there is fitted the piston 8, the is ton 8 rests upon a rubber valve 9, the rub er valve 9 rests upon the valve seat extended from the inner end of the opening 8 in a downward direction to a point immediately belowthe center of the piston 8 and thence up to the valve seat at the passage 11, which allows the water to flow up to the valve seat; the ll-holt 14 is fitted through lugs 5 and lugs 5 and fitted and extend ing from. the top end of said U-bolt is the yoke 12 which rests upon the piston 8 both ends of the yoke are fastened upon the U-bolt by means of thumb screws 15, the screw ends are indicated by 13.,ifitted and secured upon both sides of said Udoolt immediately below the lugs 5 is the nutlfi, coil spring 17 are coiled about the U bolt above the lugs 5 and the nut 16 fitted on the U bolt between the flanges 5 is the cocentric lug. 20, the free end of this eccentric lug is thehook 18 this hook is turned up as shown by 18 to stop all flow of water. The
eccentric hub 19 is provided b 2. lug 20; 21
is the water trough suspends by means of a ring 22.
With my device constructed by the foregoing parts and shown in my drawings, the water faucet can be adjusted by means of the nuts 16. When the trough is filled with the required amount of water the weight of the; trough and the added water forces the springs 1? down, thereby forci the yoke down on the piston stoppin to flow. oi water. W en the trough is relieved of some of the, water, sprin 17 willv draw up the trough which Wlll re ease the prure oi the yoke and a. allow the-water to when it is desire to lock the faucet the hook will he turned i one quarter around which, by
menus ed to lug, and by contact with the Kilt) Edd lower part of the body, will force the oke and the piston down thereby shutting 0 any further flow of Water.
I claim:
1. In an automatic faucet, a faucet body, a receiving opening, a discharge opening and opening at the top end thereof extending down near the lower part, a piston fitted in said last namedopening; two lugs at the top of said body, two lugsat the bottom of said body, a U bolt running through said lug from the bottom to the top, a yoke attached at the top ends of said U bolt by means of thumb screws, an eccentric member attached in the middle of said U bolt, a lug on said member, substantially as described.
2. In an automatic faucet, a faucet body,
receiving opening, discharge opening, m bis ton, two lugs at the top of said body, two lugs at the bottom of said body, a U bolt running through said lugs from the bottom to the top, ayoke attached to thetop ends of said U bolt by means of thumb: screws resting on said plston, an eccentric member attached to the middle of said U bolt, a lug on said member, substantially as described,
In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set In hand in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
DAVID M. HOLE-BOOK.
