COLLAPSIBL CONCRETE MOLD.
Application filed September T0 all whom it may cc 120cm Be it known that I, Anrnnn H. EVANS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bronx, in the county of Bronx and State' of Newv York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Collapsible Concrete Molds, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to collapsible concrete molds.
An object of the invention is to provide a mold which, when set-up will be strong and durable and wherein the walls or sections of the structure will divide the latter into a plurality of cells of uniform size, the construction ot the parts being such as to give to the walls of each cell maximum rigidity and strength so as to hold the walls against undue sagging under the weight of the concrete when placed in the cells during the molding operation.
A still further object of the invention is to provide a collapsible mold which can be set-up or knocked down with dispatch as the occasion requires.
Another object of the invention is to pro` vide novel means for securing the walls of the mold together when the structure is set-up.
lVith these and other objects in view, the invention resides in certain novel construction and combination and arrangement of parts, the essential features of which are hereinafter fully described, are particularly pointed out in the appended claims, and are illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure l is a perspective view of the mold set-up.

In carrying the invention into practice, use is made of a plurality of identically con` structed longitudinal walls 4. Four of these walls are shown for the purpose of illustration but it will be understood that I may increase or decrease this number to suit va` rious purposes and conditions., The walls 4 are provided with core openings 6 and when trie mold is setup the openings in one 9, 1922. wall coincide with the openings of another or adjacent wall as shown in Figure 1. Any suitable well-known form of core may be used in connection with the mold. The lon` gitudinal walls are formed at their ends with Teshaped slots 7. Two of these slots are preferably arranged at each end of each of said walls and thesame are superimposed as shown in Figure 2. The purpose of'this construction will be described hereinafter.
Associated with the longitudinal walls are identically constructed end walls 8 slotted at 9 along their central portions and slotted at 10 and 11 respectively alongVY their upper and lower edges and in vertical alignment with the aforesaid slots 9 as shown in Figure 3. From this construction the ends of the longitudinal walls may be operatively projected through the mating slots 9, 10 and 11 when setting the mold up.
`Oneach end wall 8 are sliding locking bars 12 and 13 operatively connected at 14 with a rocking lever 15. This lever is pivoted at 16 to the lower edge of said wall so that when the lever is rocked the bars 12 and 13 will be simultaneously moved in the same direction. These lock bars are pro` vided with substantially H-shaped sections 17 of relatively increasing proportions from one end of each of said locking bars to the other end thereof. These bars are adapted to be projected into the T-shaped slots 7 as shown in Figures 1 and 2 when the mold is set-up. Each of the H-shaped portions 17 is provided with a connecting cross-piece 18y adapted to be passed through the restricted branch 7a of the adjacent slot 7 in associating the longitudinal walls 4 with the end walls 8.
In setting-up the mold I first arrange the walls 8 at a propervdistance with respect to each other and then successively connect the longitudinal walls 4, starting from the outside of the mold and working inwardly un` til the opposite. side of the mold is built up. Also in succession with the operation of connecting the longitudinal walls 4 with said ends walls I actuate the levers 15 so as to bring the main locking portions 19 of the bars 12 and 13 into locking engagement with said slots 7. In this manner the longitudinal walls may be firmly interlocked with the mating end walls 8. The said longitudinal walls are also held equidistantly spaced apart.
In order to divide the mold into a muln tiplicity of cells of uniform size l employ intermediate transverse Walls 20, each oonsisting of a number of separable units provided in their upper edges with recesses 2l adapted to register horizontally with recesses 22 in the longitudinal Walls 4i. These units are arranged betvveenpthe Walls l: as clearly shown in Figure l. The lower ends of these units are provided with recesses 23 which register with slots 24 in the Walls 4;. Through the slots 24 and adapted to be engaged in thel recesses 3 of each of said intermediate Walls is a transverse locking bar 24./ which is held against accidental derangement by latch devices 25 on the outer walls 5. The recesses 2i and 22 receive locking bars 26. TWhen all of the part are connected as shown in Figure l the ino-ld set-up ready for use and itsbase can be mounted upon any suitable fiat platform ready for the pouring operation. After blocks have been formed the several sections of the mold may be easily disassembled as will be understood..
`YWhile l have described What deem to be the most desirable embodiment of myriny vention, it is obvious that many of the de-k tails may be varied YWithout in any Way departing from the spirit of my invention, and l therefore do not limit myself to the exact details of construction herein set forth nor to anything less than the Whole of my invention limited only by the appended claims.

A collapsible mold comprising longi tudinal Walls7 end Walls, means on the end walls co-acting with said longitudinal Walls to hold the mold'set up, intermediate Walls detachably associated with the longitudinal Walls for dividing the mold into a plurality of non-communicating cells, said intermediate Walls consisting of relatively separable units, and means connected with the longitudinal walls and co-acting with said units to hold same in set up positions.

A collapsible mold comprising longitndinal Walls, end Walls, means on the end Walls co-acting With said longitudinal Walls to hold the mold set up, intermediate Walls detachably associated With the longi tudinal Walls for dividing the molds into a plurality of noncommunicating cells, said :intermediate Walls consisting" of relatively separable units, means connected with the longitudinal Walls and co-acting With said units to hold same in set up positions7 said holding means consisting ofl bars carried by the longitudinal Walls andreceivable in recesses formed in said units.

A mold consisting of longitudinal Walls and connecting end walls, the end Walls having slots for the reception of the extremities of the longitudinal Walls, slidinglocking bars carried by the end Walls and feo-acting with the extremities of the longitudinal walls to hold same operatively secured to said end Walls, said locking bars including substantially l-l--shaped separated portions, the extremities of the longitudinal Walls having slots therein (3o-acting With said H- shaped portions.

A. mold comprising longitudinal Walls having slotted extremities7 endfvvalls havV ing portions through which the extremities are extended, means on the end WallsforV successively locking and unlocking the extremities of the longitudinal Walls with respect to said end Walls, and levers pivoted to said end Walls and said means to actuate the latter.
