TR-IX OF SAID ADELlFiIER A. BSHP, DECEAS'ED.
TRUCK.
Application filed March 8, 3.921. Serial No. 450,609.
To @Zlio/1.0m zi may concern.:
Be it known that l, nnnnunn it. Bisi-lor, a citizen ot the United States, and resident ot Racine, in the. county ot Racine and State ot Wisconsin, have invented certain nen7 and useful improvements in Trucks; and l do hereby declare that the 'l'olloiving is a iull, clear, and exact. description thereof.
This invention relates to an improved truck which is primarily designed for use in laundrles, but it is obvious that it is equally well adapted for use Wherever it is desirable to use a truck having a plurality ot com partments for receiving separate batches ot' material and keeping the same separate trom each other.
ln most modern laundries which make a specialty ot family Washing-s. instead of marking each individal piece with the name or number oit the owner, it is now the prevailing custom to Wash each 'family package in a separate batch, thus eliminating the time and expense incident to marking and sorting. In carrying out the process according to this method it is necessary, of course, to keep the different batches separate throughout the various steps of Washing, rinsing, drying, mangling and the like.
lWith the above facts in mind it is the primary object oi the invention to provide a truck for transferring the batches trom one machine to another which shall have a plurality ot compartments most. conveniently arranged for the purpose specified.
lt. is more particularly the object ot the invention to provide a truck body ot this kind, having means for covering all but one ot the compartments, and wherein only one compartment can normally be uncovered at a time.
With the above and other objects in vieu', the. invention resides in the novel Afeatures ot' construction, as illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a plan view oi" one term in which my invention may loe embodied.
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional vien1 on the line 2 2 ot Figure l.
Referring more specifically to the drawings, the numeral l designates the body ot my improved truck` which is mounted on the Wheels 2. rThis body constitutes a receptacle which is divided into a number oit compartments as illustrated in Figures l and 2. The body is in the t'orm of a regular prism, and is divided by the partitions 3 which extend t'rom the axis of the prism to the edges thereof, thus forming a plurality ot triangular prismatic compartments. Each oit these partitions except one, is provided with a cover 4i, which is hinged thereto at 5. rlhus it will be seen that each ot the c overs may be sivung so as to cover either one of the compartments adjacent to the partition upon which the cover is hinged.
F rom the 'foregoing description it will be seen that l have provided a practical and convenient. device for handling a number of different batches which may be kept separate trom each other. lt will also be seen that one of the compartments is always open ready to receive the articles to be Washed, and another compartment cannot be opened Without closing the one which has previously been opened, thus there is no chance of getting the diiiferent batches mixed.
The l'orm illustrated and described is particularly ser iiceable due to the fact that the hat sides allon7 the device to be moved up iiush against the machine from Which the articles are to be removed, leaving no space through Which they may drop, or in which they may become entangled.
lit. Will, however, be understood that the invention, as shown, is merely tor the purpose ot illustration, and that various modifications may be made Within the scope ot what is claimed Without departing from the spirit ot' the invention.
l'. claim as my invention:
l. A truck body having a plurality of vertical partitions oitl equal Width extending radially from the center thereof, and dividing said body into a series of equal compartments, all but one of said partitions having a cover hinged to its upper edge, said cover being movable on its hinge to cover either of the compartments adjacent thereto with its 'tree edge portion resting on the partition between the compartments so covered and an adjoining compartment.
2. A 'truck body in the shape of al regular prism and having bottom and side Walls, partitions extending radially trom the axis ot the prism to the side edges thereof, and dividing the same into a series of equal` triangular prismatic compartments, all but one of said partitions having a cover in the shape of isosceles triangle, one leg of which is hinged to the upper edge of the partition, said cover being movable on its hinge to cover either of the compartments adjacent thereto With the other leg of the triangle resting on the partition between the compartments so covered and an adjoining oompartment.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing l have hereunto set my hand at Milwaukee. in the county of Milwaukee and State of Wiscousin.
