To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, VIRGIL ST. CLoUD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Raleigh, in the county of Wake and State of North Carolina, have invented new and use as to regulate and control the, outwardoor lateral projection of the obstructing member against which the door en ages as it swings shut, and which possesses t e additional features of not only being simple and inexpensive to produce, but also extremely effioient and durable in operation.
A further object of this invention residesin forming an integral recess flanged at one end of the base plate, to which is secured a flexible stop or bum er against which the door rests when in t e closed position.
In the drawings, wherein is set forth a preferred embodiment of my invention:

Referring to the drawings wherein like numerals'indicate like parts in the several views, 10 denotes a door jamb of the ordinary construction used in houses and the like, which is provided with a rib 11 that is arranged to act as a stop for the door when the latter is swung shut.
A base plate 12, formed of metal or any other suitable material, is secured to the bolt sliding relative to the outer face of the door jamb 10 by any suit able securing means, such as the screws 13. A yielding tongue member 14 is preferably cut out ofthe plate 12 and is arran ed to extend laterally from the outer face '1; ereof so as to project into the path of the'doo'r 15, asthe latter is closed. A wear plate 16 may be attached to the outer ed e of the door 15 so as to frictionally engage t e tongue 16 and prevent the wearing or marring of the outer edge of the door when the latter is brought into contact with the yielding tongue 14.
The door jamb 10 is provided with an opening or recess 17, which receives a threaded bolt 18 that extends through an opening 19 in the tongue 14 and a'correspondingly aligned aperture formed in the substantially U-shaped yoke or supporting member 20, which has its opposed ends abuttllig the inner face of the base plate 12.

The stem of the bolt 18 is secured to the yoke by means of the threaded nut 22, which may be held thereon by the cotter pin 23, while the head 24, which is arranged flush with the outer surface of the tongue 14, is
preferably provided with a groove for the reception of any suitable'tool so as to permit the lateral adjustment of the tongue 14 to be regulated by means that are readily accessible from the exterior of the plate. A

It will be seen that by reason of the novel construction of this device, the outward projection of the tongue 14 which arrests the motion of the door as it is swung shut can be regulated by tightening or loosening the scribed comprising a Wheeled frame, a stationary arm associated with said frame and having angularly disposed branches, a yoke swiveled on one of said branches, a second arm including angularly disposed branches for connectingg'the first mentioned arm for movement thereto, and a sectional band carried on the branch of the second mentioned arm and arranged in juxta-positiori Within said yoke for'the purpose specified.

A door check comprising a base plate having an inclined outwardly projecting tongue, a substantially U-shaped supporting member engaging the inner face of said 1 plate, a threaded bolt extending through aligned openings in said tongue and supporting member, said bolt provided with means ad'acent the outer face of the tongue for regu ating the outward projection of 35 the latter.
10. A door check comprising a base plate having an inclined outwardly projecting tongue, a substantially U shaped supporting member engaging the inner face of said plate, a threaded bolt extending through aligned openings in said tongue and supporting member, a tensional spring surrounding said bolt between said supporting member and plate, and means on said bolt for varying the outward projection of said tongue, said means being substantially flush with the outer face of the tongue.
