Description

Sept. 25 {1923. mam 10 H. ROSENBLATT MESSAGE CARRIER.
F iled Sept. 22. 1922 ATTORNEY.
' Fatented Sept. 25, 1923.
STAES HANNAH ROSENBLATT, OF IVIANILA, PHILIPPINE' ISLANDS.
MESSAGE CARRIER.
Application filed September 22, 1922. Serial No. 589,820.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, HANNAH RosnNBLATT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Manila, Territory of Philippine Islands, have invented new and useful Improvements in Message Carriers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a message carrier and more particularly to a carrier that will carry messages upon water waves and has for its primary object the provision of awater tight bottle in which the messages can be arranged, and a signaling means consisting of a bell from which an audible signal will be given.
An object of the invention is the novel manner of shaping and arranging the support in place, in combination with a hell that is carried by the support.
A feature of my invention is the novel manner of supporting the bell so that during rough weather the bell will not be detached.
Vith these and other objects in view the invention will be better understood from the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing wherein:
Fig. 1 is a front elevation of the carrier.
Fig 2 is an edge elevation.
Again referring to the drawing illustrating one of the many constructions of my invention I have illustrated thecarrier as con sisting of a bottle 1 in the neck of which is arranged a cork 2 so that the message maybe readily inserted in the bottle and the bottle made air tight so as to float upon the waves. The numeral 3 designates a support shaped to represent a question mark and having a sphere point 4 that is forced into the cork thereby holding the support in a vertical position, This support 3 is further provided with a hook 5 that has its bill 6 shaped and arranged to yieldably move towards and away'from the adjacent edge? of the support for the purpose now to be described.
I provide a hell 8 with a loop 9 that is adapted to be forcedpast the bill 6 and be supported by t-he hook and thus it will be seen that the bell will have the proper amount of play but will be positively held against accidental dislocation from the hook.
From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing it will be seen that I provide a carrier that will positively float until was'hed' upon shore or is picked up by a passing boat. The peculiar shape of the support in combination with the bell assures the attraction of attention which is a veryimpojrtant feature of my invention.
It is, of course, to be understood that the device may be constructed in various manners than illustrated and supported in other relations from thereceptacle and, therefore, I do not desire to be limited in any manner except as set forth in the claim hereunto appended.
Having thus described my invention what I claim is: I I i A message carrier comprising a bottle, a cork therefor, a support in the shape of a question mark having a sphere point forced into the cork which is further provided with a hook having its bill: portion yieldably mounted with relation to the body of the sup- HANNAH RosENBLATr.
