Droilsort, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chinook, inthe county ot' Blaine ,and citate of Montana, have invented a new and'use'liul Artificial Denture, ot which the following is a'specitication.` Y I .Y This invention relates to a meanstor repairing theartiticial teeth ot a dental plate.

The invention will be best understood from a consideration ofthe following def Vtailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing,` forming part ot this specification, with the understanding, however, that the invention is VVnot confined to a-ny strict conformity with the showing .inthe drawing, but may be changed and modified so long as such changes 'and modilications' mark no material departure from the salient features of the invention Vas expresse-d in the appended claim.

Referring to the drawing, 1 designates a plate formed oi rubber, or metal, or any composition suitable tor thepurpose, having the upwardly-extended flanged portion 2 which simulates the gums, and provided -to be sheared, tiled, or l.ejround otf in any apwith sockets 3, in which are seated any one oic the artificial teeth l. As shown in VFigs.

Shouldany ot' the teeth become broken or need replacement, my invention is used tor v repairing or replacingj the teeth. .lt consists in providino a passage either laterally or forming` a threaded opening` in the plate in alinement with the passage-e in the teeth. The teeth are secured within the sockets 3 ot the 70 plate by inserting an anchor screw 5 through the passage 6 in the tooth and into the threaded opening" in the plate, so that as the screw is manipulated, the threaded portion ot the screw will engage the threaded openingr in the plate and draw the tooth up se.H curely within the socket 3. The head 8 et the screw is ot such a "formation that it will be seated snugly within a countersunk portion 9 formed at the mouth ot the opening 6 in the tooth l and clamp the tooth in position-within the socket 3 in the plate. The portion ot the head 8 which projects beyond the outer surface et the tooth 4f is provided with a slot or nick l() adapted to be enraged by ,a suitable tool, such as aY Screw driver, Jor turning` the screw. rlhe portion ot the head 8 ot the screw which extends beyond the outer surface ot the tooth 4l; is adapted proved-manner, so that the portion ot the head of the screw Ywhich remains seated in the socket will disclose an outer surface l1 flush with the outer surface of the tooth il, which will present the appearance ot a filling for the tooth el). The screw 5 in such case may be inade et any precious metal, such as ,Q'old or the like.
Bythis securing' means. no cement ot any kind is .required 'lor cenientinggthe tooth in the socket, and the ugly appearing head oit the screw is eliminated. The screw 5 provides a very reliable .means :for positionings artificial teeth in place as shown in Figs. 3 and 4l, and whereby the tooth may he readily removed upon the removal ofthe screw.
The screw 5 may he passed laterally or longitudinally through the tooth, as will appear from the constructions disclosed in Figs. 3 and 5. ln Fig. 3, the tooth is provided with a lateral passage, while in Fie. 5, the screw is inserted through a longitudinal passage, and the head 8 is ground off in the same manner as are the heads of the laterally inserted screws shown in Fig. 4;. ln either case, the ground surface of the head olf the screw presentsthe appearance ofY eitherV a gold or silver filling, as the case may be, depending upon the metal used i'or forming the screw.

What'is claimed is A means for repairing the teeth of an a1-tieial`dentu1e -wherein the plate is pro* filling vided with sockets for the reception of the teeth, eonsisting of an artificial tooth provided with a passage therethrough, Vand a screw-threadedopening in the YWall otn the socket which is adapted to he alined with the passage in the tooth, said passage having a countersunk portion at its mouth, and a screw provided with a head inserted through thepassageoi thetooth and screwed into the threaded opening in the plate, a portion of the head of the 'screw heine' seated in and the eountersunk portion of said passage, the extended portion of the head being ground oit `flush with the surface of the tooth, .whereby the ground ot surface of the headpiesents the appearance of ailling for the toothf In testimony, that VClaimthe foregoing as my oivn,`l have hereto ailixed my signature.
