Description

srArEs 'FFICE.
PAUL ONNEBTZ, OF BERLIN-WILMERSDOBF, GERMANY, ASSIGNOR TO ACTIEN GESELLSCHAFT FUR ANILIN FABRIKATION, OF BERLIN, GERMANY.
PROCESS FOR DYEING FURS, SKINS, HAIRS, FEATEERS, R THE LIKE.
Ho Drawing.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that 1, PAUL ONNERTZ, a citizen of the German Republic, residing at BerlinlVilmersdorf, Germany (my postoflice address being Dusseldorferstr. 72,
Berlin-\Vilmersdorf, Germany), have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Processes for Dyeing Furs skins, Hairs, Feathers, or the like, of which the following is a specification. l 1
It is known to dye furs, feathers, hairs or the like with aid of 4-amino-1-oxybenzene. By my present invention tints which difier considerably from those obtained with 4- amino-l-oxybenzene may be 0 tained by application of derivatives of 4-amino-1-oxybenzene containing negative substituents such ashalogen nitro-group in presence of an oxidin agent, the shades being of an excellent astness. v
The said derivatives are superior to 4- amino-l-oxybenzene because they may be [used mixed with other com ounds'for example with meta-diamine, w ereby dyeings are obtained showing the mixed shades of the components,'whereas the unsubstituted 4-aminoJ-oxybenzene reacts with many other compounds so that the shades thus obtained differ from those of the compo- 0 nents.
llhe following example illustrates my in I vent-ion, without limiting it The well-washed skin is handled for-some I hours at ordinary temperature in a bath which contains per litre 2 grams of 2-chloro- Application filed m is, 1922. semi m. 561,011.
amino-l-oxybenzene, a grams of ammonia (of 25% strength) and 30 cc. of hydrogen peroxide (of about 3% strength). The skin is then well-washed and finished as usual, a brownish shade being obtained.
The tints obtained on skins prepared with chromium or copper mordants are brown, those on skins prepared with iron mordants are reddish brown.
2.3 dichlor 4 amino-l-oxybenzene' dyes gra ammo-l-oxybenzene, when dyed on furs prepared with chromiumor copper-mordants, dyes 'brown shades with a reddish tinge.
Having now particularly described my said invention and the manner in which it may be performed what I claim is- 1. Process of dyeing furs, skins, hairs, feathers and the like, comprising treating the same in the presence of an oxidizing agent with a solution of a 4-amino-1-oxybenzene containing a negative substituent.
2. Process of dyeing furs, skins, hairs, feathers and the like, comprising treating the same in the presence of an oxidizing agent with a solution of 2-nitro-4-amin0- l-oxybenzene.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
