Be it known that I, ERIK GADDA, a citizen of Finland, residing at Silverton, in the county of Marion and State of Oregon, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Clothes Hangers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use thesame.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in clothes hangers especially adapted for supporting coats and trousers and has for its primary object the provision of a device of the above stated character which may be easily and quickly collapsed to permit of the device being conveniently carried or stored in a small space.
Another object of this invention is the provision of a clothes hanger of the above stated character which will be simple, durable, and efiicient, and which may be manufactured and sold at a comparatively low cost.
With these and other objects in view as.
will become more apparent as the description proceeds, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combi nation, and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed. g
For a complete understanding of my into be had to the following description and. accompanying drawdevice collapsed,
ings, in which Figure 1 is a front elevation, illustrating a clothes hanger constructed in accordance with my invention,
Figure. 2 is a sectional view taken on the 7 line 2-2 of Figure 1,
.Figure 3 is a plan view illustrating the Figure 4 is a detail view illustrating the trouser attaching member and its detachable connection with the brace.
Referring in detail to the drawings, the numerals 1 and 2 indicate the inclined mem bers which have their adjacent ends overlapped and pivotally connected as shownat 3, and the pivotal connection carries a hook 4: whereby the device may be readily sus- 1922. Serial No. 552,129.
pended from a suitable support. A brace 5 has one end pivoted to the member 2 as shown at 6- while its other end is beveled and has formed thereon an extension 7 adapted to fit within a socket 8 formed in the member 1 for the purpose of establishone upon the other as clearly shown in the drawings. The parts heretofore described when assembled, as shown in Figure 1, form an efficient coat hanger, and the brace 5 adjacent to its beveled end is provided with mg a detachable connection between said member and the brace which permits of the brace and members 1 and 2 to be folded 6O 7 a recess 9 in which is located 'a pivot 10 that extends through an eye formed in the en-i .larged end 11 of a trousers securing strap or member 12. The member 12 1s preferably constructed from flexible material and is provided with compound curves to facilitate its clamplng action on the leg portions of trouserswhen said trousers are positioned between the member 12 and the brace 5. The brace adjacent to its other end is provided with a recess 13 in which is located a pivot pin 14 carrying a U-shapedclamp 15 adapted to be placed over the free end of the member 12 for the purpose of securing said member in parallelism with the brace for the purpose of firmly securing the leg, portions brace and when it is deof trousers to the sired to remove the trousers, the-clamp 15 is swung'into therecess 13 freeing the member 12 so that it may be swung upon its hinge or pivotand permit the easy removal of the trousers.
