Be it known that i., ARTHUR B. BARNES. e citizen of the United States, sind a, resident of the city of New York, borough of llt/.ianhetten, in the county and State of New York, have invented e. new and improved Lenip Fixture and Socket Constructlon, ci which the itoilowing is a full, clear, and er:- ect description.

This invention relates to e, construction ci isinp fixture end socket, end has for en object the provision of ineens whereby the socket is in e simple end eiiicient nienner connected to end cieniped within the Xtui-e.

Another object resides in the provision of ineens whereby the ineens for operating the switch in the sochet depends 'troni the fire ture in en entirely new end convenient manner.

The invention in general relates to e iintiire which is mede in two pieces, such es e, cup 1 end e cep 2 within which e socket 3 is to he disposed. T he oep 2 is provided with depending annuler ring portions l1 which tit over the corresponding portion l2 on the cup i. riihe hottom of the socket is in the usuel manner formed with e screw-threaded bore, and in the construction shown is fitted with e, threaded hollow pipe 13. This pipe extends downwardly from the end of the socket end is, of course, in line with the exis of the socket. This pipe is adapted to pese through en opening such as li in the bottom ofthe cup 1. It may be threaded through such opening or :may pees loosely therethrough.

The lower end of the pipe 13 is to be received in :i threaded bore 1d ot e nipple 16. This nipple is provided with e. smaller bore 17 extending therethrough in tine with the bore of the pipe 13. By threeding the nipple 16 on to the pipe 13, it wiil be observed that the cap 2 wilt-be more ti htiy held on the cup 1 and, conseqnentiy, t e socket wiii he more rmly mounted within the iixture. What l claim is:

l. An electric light pull-chain socket construction which comprises e tubular member fastened to the lower end of the socket, seid member hef/ing e lateral opening to receive e pull ehe-in associated with the socket whereby the pull chain can extend from the lower end of the tubular inenilier substantie-lly in line with the exis ol" the socket.

A lmnp lifiture construction.'havinge pull ehein socket within the lintnre, which comprises e threaded tubular member con nested to lower end of the socket, seid. member having e lateral opening: therein within the fixture, the lower end of the niemloer extending through the hott-om of the fixture, e hollow7 nipple on the outside of the xtnre engaging with the lower end of the tubular member to support the socket within the lixture, the pull cliein of the socket extending through the lateral openlung1 enel down through the nipple whereby it depends centrelly trom the lower linee olf the lessees lixture end substentielly in line with the axis of the socket.
