Description
M. LANDI ATTACHMENT FOR WINDING MACHINES Filed Sept. 2. 1922 2 sheets-sheet 2 l /NvEA/Ton I M. Landi,
' mom/frs The portion 24: of the bracket 23 is adapted to slide within the guideway 17 and as is obvious through the means of the bolt 19 this bracket may be adjustably locked within the member l5. rlie portieri 26 of the bracket member 23 has secured thereto a substantially U-shaped casting 2T, said casting being secured to the bracket 23 through the means of a screw or the like as at 28, said screw extending through the bridge portion of the casting. The leg portions 29 of the casting 27 curve outwardly with relation to the portion 24 of the bracket 23 and rotatably support between their free ends a roller generally indicated by the reference numeral 30. Y j
When the attachment is properly mounted upon the machine the position of the roller 30 with relation to the aociated bobbin B is as shown in Figure 2 of the drawings and the operation of the attachment for accomplishingvthe-purposes of the invention is as follows: The roller 30 is adjusted ,with relation to the bobbinB so that when the desired amount of thread iswound upon the bobbin, said thread will come in contact with the roller 30. This adjustment of theroller 30 is made through adjusting the bracket 23 by means of the bolt 19 and wing nut 22. In operation the winding machine will turn the bobbins through the band wheels VV and upon a bobbin having sufficient winding'thereon of a silk thread or the like the roller 30 comes into engagement with said thread and leaves the bobbin so that the driving connection between said bobbin and associated band wheel lV is discontinued. The bobbin may now of course be replaced by a new bobbin and the same Voperation proceeded with. As is apparent substantially any thickness of winding upon each Vbobbin may be had by adjustment of the associated roller 30. A
While I have shown and described the preferred form of my attachment it should be understoodthat IV am Yaware of the fact that slight modifications may be made by those skilled in the art without departing from thespirit ofmy invention as indicated by the appended claims.
What I claim is: Y Y l. A bobbin lifting attachment for winding machines of the character described com-` prising asupporting plate, means whereby the plate may be adjustably secured to the,
frame ofV a winding machine, an L-shaped member having its one end portion provided with an elongated slot, said slot extending longitudinally of said portion, Va boltY extending through an opening in the supporting plate and also extending through the slot in the last named portion Yof the L-shaped member, a nut carried bythe bolt whereby the L-shaped member may be adjusted with respect to thesupporting plate,
and a roller rotatably supported at the outer d end of the freev portion of said I -shapedV member, for the purpose described.
2. A bobbin lifting device for winding machines of the-character` described comprising a supporting` plate, means whereby the plate may be detachably secured to the frame of the winding machine, an L-shaped member having its one end portion provided with an elongated slot, a bolt extending through an opening in the supporting plate and the-slot .in the last-named portion of the L-shaped member, a nut carried by the bolt whereby the L-shaped member may be adjusted with respect to the supporting plate, a pair of upwardly extending arms formed adjacent the outer end of the other portion of said L-shaped member, and
a roller turnably supported between the free end of said arms, for the purpose described.
3. A bobbin liftingattachment for winding machines of the character described comprising a channel plate having the free end of each Side portion thereof formed with an inwardly turned angeV whereby to provide sok a guideway passage between said-anges and the bridge portion of said member, means whereby said channel member maybe s'e-*- cured to the framerof the machine, anV L- shaped member having one portion adapted to slide in the guideway of said channel* f shaped member, said portion of the L-shaped member having a longitudinally extending 4. Avbobbin liftingattachment for windl ing machines comprising a channel-shaped supporting plate, each'side portion thereof being formed with an inwardly extending flange whereby to provide a guideway between each flange and the bridge portion of said channel member, a bolt extending through the bridge portionof the channel member and having its head counter-sunk therein, a cross arm carried at the other end of the bolt adapted to be utilized for clamp-Y ing the channel member upon the frame of the machine, an L-shaped member having one portion slidable in the guideways of said channel member, said portion ofthe L-shaped member 'having a longitudinally T125 extending slot, a bolt extended through an opening in the bridge portion of said channel-shaped memberY and also through.Y the slot in the last-named Vportion Vof the L- shaped member, a nut carried by saidbolt whereby the L-shaped member may beadjustably secured to the supporting channel member, and a roller rotatably supported upon the free end of the other portion of said L-shaped member, for the purpose described.
5. A bobbin` lifting attachment for Winding machines ofthe character described com-Y prising a supporting plate, means whereby the plate may be detachably secured to the frame Yof a Winding machine, an L-shaped 10 bracket member, means whereby one portion of said member may be adjustably securedv to the supporting plate, and a roller rotatably supported at the outer end of the other purpose described.
