THOMAS DE LA MARE, OF TOOELE, UTAH.
MOLD.
Application filed March 11, 1321.
'l Vithin the scope of what is claimed, a
mechanic may make changes in the structure shown, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the drawings :-Figure 1 shows in side elevation, the mold wherein the portal is made; Figure 2 is a longitudinal section of the mold; Figure 3 is a transverse section thereof on the line 3-3 of Figure 1, parts being broken away.
The mold shown in Figures 1, 2 and 3 is used to form the portal of a culvert and embodies a first end plate 1 and a second end plate 2 united by a draw bolt 8. Disposed between the ends 1 and 2 is an upwardly arched bottom including a center piece l and side pieces 5 overlapped thereon, the parts 304 and 5being connected by bolts 6, the said parts having a plurality of openings 7 for the bolts, thereby facilitating adjustment. The side pieces 5 have upstanding wings 8 to which end walls 9 are hinged at 10, the end walls having outstanding flanges 11. An intermediate plate 12 is spaced from the plate 1 and is spaced at 14: from the bottom l5. There are a pluralityrof openings 15 in the plates 1 and 12 adapted to receive -10 bolts 16 mounted in the flanges 11, the construction being such that when an adjustment is made in the width of the bottom, the position of the walls 9 may be adjusted accordingly.
Serial No. 451,427.
The concrete is placed in the space defined by theplates 1, 12 and 9, and joins, below the plate 12, with the concrete which is placed on'the bottom -4 -5, between the wings 8, and in front of theend plate 2.
I claim 1. In a device of'the class described, first and second plates; a tightening device connecting the plates; an upwardly arched bottom disposed between the plates and embodying a center piece and side pieces overlapped thereon, the side pieces having upstanding wings, and the center piece being supported on the tightening device; means for connecting the side pieces with the center piece for adjustment; upstanding walls hinged to the wings and having flanges; an intermediate plate spaced from the first and second plates and from the bottom; and securing elements connecting the flanges of the walls with the first plate and with the intermediate plate.
2. In a device of the class described, first and second plates; a tightening device connecting the plates; an upwardly arched bottom disposed between the plates and comprising a center piece and side pieces overlapped thereon, the side pieces having upstanding wings; means for connecting the side pieces with the center piece for adjustment; upstanding end walls hinged to the wings; an intermediate wall. spaced from the first and second plates and from the bottom; and means for connecting the walls detachably with the first plate and with the intermediate plate.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto aflixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
