* its err;
. and a residentof Delhi, in'the county of Delaware and State of Iowa, have invented a new and improved Ghicken-Brooder Coop, of which the following is a description.
The general objext of my invention is to provide a novel chicken brooder coop so constructed and arranged as to keep the chickens free from the stamping of an uneasy hen when the clncksare shut in as in early morn- 7 ing or before the chicks are let out for the day or on rainy day. It is also mite'proof and proof against the attacks of small animals.
Thenature of the'inv'ention and its distinctive features and advantages will clearly appear as the description proceeds.
Reference is to be had to the accompany in drawings forming a part of this specification, it being understood that the drawings are merely illustrative of one example of the invention.
Figure 1 is a front elevation of a breeder coop embodying my invention;
Figure 2 is a transverse vertical section on the line 2-2, Figure 1;
Figure 3 is a longitudinal vertical section on the line 3-3, Figure 2;
Figure 4 is a sectional plan View, the section being taken on the line 44, Figure 2.
In constructing a brooder coop in accordance with the illustrated example 1 form the same of sheet metal. The numeral indicates the bottom plates; 11, the back; 12, the
front formed of a frame having side posts and intermediate posts 13. the front being provided with wire mesh 14 between two of the upright posts, the space between the other upright posts being open and closed by a screen door 17 sliding inan upper channel on the front 12 and a bottom channel bar 16. y
r The numeral 18 indicates front and back plates of the pitch roof of the coop, the said plates 18 being locked to the back 11 and the front 12 as follows: The front 1.2 has at the upper edge thereof a narrow oblique flange 19 directed outwardly and downwardly on which the adjacent roof plate 18 rests, said roof plate on its lower edge being returned inwardly as at 20 to enthe flange 19. Similarly, the back 11 along the top edge thereof has an outwardly directed oblique flange 21 on which the rear roof plate 18 rests and said roof platehas cLAnKc. WHITE, or DELHI, IOWA.

its lower edge turned downwardly as at 22 to hook under said flange 21. The adjacent edges of the back and front roof plates 18 have reverse oblique flanges 23 at the peak of the roof and said flanges 23 are engaged by a dovetail ridge bar 24.
An important feature of my invention is the provision of a vertical partition 25 adjacent the plane of ridge bar 24. Said partition 25 includes a bottom bar 26 having a channel format the under side to receive a raised rib 27 'on the bottom '10. The upper side of the bar 26 has side flanges 28, 29 giving said upper side of the bar a channel form to slidably receive the bottom rail 30 of a door 31 forming a closure for an opening in said partition 25. At the top the door 31 is slidable in a channel 32 formedby side plates 38 on a horizontal bar 34 secured to and forming part of the partition 25. Said partition 25 has a top bar 35 directly below the ridge bar 24. At opposite sides of partition 25 are angle brackets 36 riveted to the sides 42 of the coop and holding said partition.
The bottom 10 at the back edge is turned downward obliquely as at 38 to have hooked engagement with the upturned edge 37 at the lower edge of the back 11. Similarly, at the front edge of the bottom 10, the same is formed with a downturned oblique edge 48 beneath which is engaged the upturned edge flange 39 on the front 12.
The lower edges 41 of the sides 42 are upturned at the inner sides and engaged by the downturned oblique edges 43 on the bottom 10 at the sides. The connection between the sides 42 and the back and front of the coop is similar to the connection of the bottom with the back and front, said sides having at the front edges thereof oblique flanges 44 directed laterallyinward and engaging the bent vertical side edges 45 on the front 12. Similarly, at the rear edges of the side plates 42, said plates have oblique flanges 46 directed laterally inward and engaging bent edges 47 on the back 11.
The described construction permits of the parts of the coop being assembled in knockdown form and facilitates the assemblage of the parts in erect form. The described engagement of the edges of the front, back, sides, bottom and roof permits of the sliding movements of the parts or a hooking engagement; Similarly. the partition 25 may be readily positioned and'capable of sliding on tliedower edgethereof receiving saicl,rib.
2. A, structure of the class described 111-.
the bottom. r3127, or said partition, may be, i p di nt ip a e I would state in conclusion that while the illustrated example constitutes a practical embodiment of my invention, 1 do not limit myself strictly to the exact details herein illustrated, since, manifestly, the same can be considerably varied without departure. from the spirit of the invention as defined. in. the. appended claims.
'I -Iaving thusfdescnibed my invention, I claim 1, Ina structure of. the classdescribed enclosing walls, aroof, a bottom ha-ving a rib thereon at the upper, surface, and. a 1'e-.

sides, bottom and roof, the edges of which present turned-over flanges tor engag ng o with the flanges. of the adjacent. members, the. bottom of said structure being in addiformed with a longitudinally extending, rib .p-roj ecting above the. upper face thereof,
