FLASH-LIGHT CASE.
Application filed February 15, 1921, Serial No. 445,120. Renewed June 6, 1923.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GERALD E. WHITE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lansing, in the county of Ingham and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Flash-Light Case, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to flash light cases and m'ore particularly to a receptacle for holding an electric flash light.
The primary object of the invention is to provide a case within which the flash light may be placed when not in use to prevent contact with metallic substances and to protect the lens and body of the flash light from being damaged while not in use.
A further object of the invention is to provide a case'which will fit the flash light to prevent moisture from gaining access to the battery which willalso prevent the switch from being accidentally turned on when the device is not in use and which will also serve to prolong the life of the battery.
Other objects of the invention will appear upon consideration of the following detail description and accompanying 'drawings, wherein Figure 1 is a side elevation of the case constructed in accordance with my invention,
Figure 2 is a longitudinal section through the same showing a flash light arranged in the case, and
Figure 3 is a top plan View.
Referring to the drawings by numerals, the receptacle is of any preferred size suitable to conveniently receive the flash light 2. The receptacle may be made of any preferred material such as leather or imitation leather, and may be lined with a rubberized fabric as indicated at 3 to make the interior moisture proof.
The top of the receptacle is open and is equipped with a removable closure cap 4 which fits the end of the receptacle as shown in the drawing.
The top of the cap is provided with parallel slots 5 and a fastening strap 6'is passed through the slots as shown so that the oppo-.
site'ends of the strap extend over diametrically opposite portions of the cap. One end of the strap is fixed to one side of the receptacle body as indicated at 7 and the other free end of the strap is adapted to be connected to a buckle 8 fixed to a short section 9 which is fastened to the body as indicated at 10 at a point diametrically opposite the fastening member 6. This fastening strap 6 may be employed to secure the cap 4 snugly to the receptacle so that the interior of the receptacle will be entirely closed when the flash light 2 is mounted in position.
It will be noted that the interior diameter of the body is substantially equal to the diameter of the flash light so that the latter will fit snugly within the casing thereby preventing jar or rattling while the device is carried from place to place. Furthermore. the interior being lined with a rubberized fabric will be entirely dryvand free from moisture and will protect the flash light against undue wear and not only prolong the life of the battery but will prevent the operating switch from being accidentally or inadvertently turned on while the flash light is within the casing.
Minor changes may be made in the details of construction without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the claim hereunto appended.
What is claimed is A flash light casing comprising a cylindrical body of non-flexible material, a removable water proof lining for'the said nonflexible body, the interior of the body being substantially equal to the exterior diameter of the flash light, one end of the body being open, a removable cap adapted to be mounted on the open end of the body, the said cap having parallel slots in its top, aflexible strap adapted to pass through said slots, one end of the strap being extended over the edge of the cap and fixed to the sides of the said non-flexible body, the other end of the strap being adapted for releasable connection to the opposite side of the said non-flexible body, said water proof lining preventing said strap fastening means from coming into contact with said battery within the nonflexible body.
