' citizen of the United States, and resident of Llark Ridge, in the county-of Passaic and State of New ersey, and F RANK. M. ASH- LEY, a citizen of theU'nited States, and resident of Brooklyn, in the countyof Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Mixing and Beating Machines, of which the following is a specification. 7

Our invention relates to mixing and beat ing machines and the object of our invention is to provide a beater made of wire. and

a shank portion having a head to hold the ends of the wiresof the heater in such man:

i ner as to be easily connected to the wires or disconnected therefrom so that wires of different form may be used, depending upon the work to be done and also to make renewals in case a wire is bent or broken. I

A further object is to provide'a wire construction in which the wireof one unit will extend across the open'space between the wire of the adjacent unit in order tomore quickly and effectively provide the finished product.

1. A beater-comprising a body'portioni' having a thread formed in its surfaceand;

slots intersecting said threadsya cap adapt;

2. A beater comprising a body portion having athread formed-in its surface and slots int-ersectlng said threads, a cap adapted to overlie-said slots-and having threads to engage the threads in the body portion, and beater units formed of Wire, the ends of which are placed in said slots and held in position by said cap.

8. A beater comprisinga body portion having a thread formed in its surface and slots intersecting saidthreads, a cap adapted' to overlie said slots andhaving threads to engage'the threads in the body portion.

and a plurality of units made of Wire suspended from said head, each of which is formed with loops Which overlap the loops in the adjacent unit.

4. A beater comprising a body portion having a thread'formed in its surface and slots intersecting said threads, a cap adapted to overlie said slots and having threads to engage the threads in the body portion and a plurality of units made of Wire suspended from said head, each of Which is formed with loopswhi'ch overlap the loops in the adjacent "unit and a shank formed integral with said body portion.
