Be it known that l, VILLIAM L. PANiirorr, a citizen of the United States', residing at New Haven, in the county of New Haven and State oit Connecticut, have invented a new and useful improvement in Badges or Insignia; and .l do hereby declare the tollowing, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and the characters of reference marked thereon, to be a full. clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part ot this application, and represent, in-

This invention relates to improvement in badges or insignia particularly designed as a badge tor sportsmcn. The object of the invention is to provide a. badge with a series of sections, in each ot which a dili'erent in signia may7 be placed, and the 'invention consists in the construction as hereinafter described and particularlyT recited in the claim.
ln carrying out my invention.y the badge consists of a backing G of any approved design. provided with a series of panels 7, in each of which insignia plates 8 may be placed. It is obvious that these panels may be square. as shown, or round, or oval, or ot any other design. The insignia. plates S may be secured in position in a` variety of Serial No. 539,367.
ways; thus, as shown in Fig. l of the drawings. the panels may be provided with slots 9; or, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3 of the drawings, the insignia plates S may be formed with prongs 10 adapted to be passed through the slots 9 and turned down upon the inside; or. as shown in Fig. i of the drawings, the
insignia plates 8 may have clips 11 to pass through the centrally-arranged slots 12 in the bar; or. if desired, the edges ot the bar may be formed with ears 13, adapted to be turned over the back oi? the insignia plates, in which case the panels may he formed with a sight-opening 14, as shown in Fig. 5 of the drawings.

Then, from time to time, as they make a predetermined. record in any particular sport, they secure an insignia plate indicating that sport, and attach this linsignia plate to the har. and this is continued until all of the spaces in the har are filled. It is under stood that the number of spaces provided may vary according to the circumstances.

,i badge or insignia comprising a bar formed with a series of panels, each panel formed with slots, and a series of individual insignia plates. each formed with prongs adapted to be passed through said slots, whereby the said plates are individually secured in the said panels.
