IMPROVEMENT IN GAME APPARATUS.

Fig. 2 represents a vertical section .of the ball-box, composed of, A, a metallic ovalshaped cylinder closed at both ends. A circular hole is made in the smallest portion of the oval at the top, into which a round metallic cylinder, B, is so inserted and fixed that there shall be a slight elevation at the end, which is produced to within a distance of the bottom equal to its diameter, thus allowing free passage to balls between A and B. The balls having been shaken in the part A, the box is then inverted, causing the ball a., for instance,

- to occupy the space opposite the inner end of pipe B. The balls b, c, and cl will then roll away within A, outside B, while the ball a enters B, and so passes out of the box.

Fig. 3 represents a horizontal section, and Fig. l a plan elevation, of the ball-box. Four diierently-colored balls, viz., red, blue, yellow, and white are required that will move freely through B; six small pegs and a-dicebox with dice. The above include all appurtenances for the game, which is played as follows:

A ball is taken by each player from the ballbox and strictly concealed, X, for example, drawing the blue ball Y, the yellow. X throws the dice, and, we will say, scores his throw,

10, upon red, beginning at the white peghole.

Y throws 6, and scores on blue, neither knowing the others ball. The object of each is to discover by his opponents manner and play the others color, run that color out, and save the color corresponding with his ball from being put out.

The rules of the game are as follows: lFirst, whatever color remains when the other two are out, the owner vof the corresponding-color ball wins, with the game and stakes; second, the first throw to be thrown for, the highest winning, after the first game the loser of the previous game taking the throw; third, a party indicating to another the color of his ball, or attempting to possess certain knowledge of the color of any other than his own ball, shall forfeit his stake, to be equally divided among the other players; fourth, the limited number of points in each color shall be one hundred and twenty (120;) fifth, should the winning color be owned by no one, it shall be a drawn game, the pool to be played for together with the next games stakes 5 sixth, with the consent of both parties, a third or fourth person may take a ball at the beginning of the game, subject to the same rules as the players 5 seventh, should there be a drawn game when three are playing, the share-holder shall continue his stake for the next game or lose all interest in the same 5 eighth, more than two persons cannot take active part in playing; ninth, the game must be played by alternate throws, no person to throw twice in succession; tenth, only one color may be scored upon at one throw.

It is not necessary that there should be money or anything played for.

What I claim as my invention is- 1. The game apparatus herein described, consisting of the ball-box A B and balls, the table D and dice, all combined and arranged to operate substantially as specified.
