M. SCHIERS TOBACCO PIPE Filed July 8; 1920 FIG/l.
Patented May 29, 19 23.
umrans rarss MAX SCHIERS, or GROSSENBAUM, NEAR DUSSELDORF, GERMANY.
PATENT, OFF-ICE.
'ToBAcoo PIPE.
Application filed July 8,
5 have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tobacco Pipes, of which the following is aspecification.
This invention relates to a tobacco pipe having a smoke chamberv and a spitbasin and connecting channels between said spit vl5 nected to the hollow space of the tobacco basin and smoke chamber, said channels being easily cleaned and allowing the spit to flow out. One of these two channels is a smoke sucking channel, being suitably conpipe bowl and leading from the smoke chamher to the spit basin and the other channel is a spit discharging channel, leading from the bottom of the smoke chamber to the spit 2 basin. These two channels guarantee an unhindered and quick discharge of the spit from the smoke chamber, so that only dry smoke is sucked by the smoker. These channels are easily cleaned and cannot possibly get choked up. v
The drawing shows one formof this new pipe. Fig. 1 is a section and Fig. 2 is a cross section of a cleaning pin for the smoke channel, on an enlarged'scale.
The straight smoke channel (a) which channel connecting'the bowl hole with a'sa-- leads from the smoke chamber (0) to the spit basin cuts the bottom of the bowl in a suitable. manner so that the channel will be'in connection with the bowl. The spit basin is preferably provided with a will quickly be emptied through said chan nel (6) into the spit chamber Owing to the fact that the spit is imme- 1920. semi No. 394,857..
diately removed, the smoke will alwaysremain completely dry.
When the spit chamber'h-as been taken oil,
said channels are easily cleaned in conser quence of their straight form andin addition a cleaning pin (6) can be put into the smoke channel, said pin'having .a section as shown in Fig.1. The grooves (r) in the pin (6) will facilitate cleaning inasmuch as the edgesof the pin will take off all crusts and other impurities. The grooves (1') maybe spiralrshaped, as shown in Fig. 1 or. they may as well be straight. Thispin is preferably fixed to the spit basin,'so that, when this latter being screwed oflflisaid pin will turn in thesmoke channel. The end of the may also 3 pin projecting from said channel, be loose within the spit basin.
I claim:
1. In a tobacco pipea straight smoke channel, connecting the bowl hole with a saliva cha'mber'and a smokechamber in the shaft discharging high above the -bottom of this chamber, the saliva chamber consisting of a removable basin,'a straight saliva channel connecting the saliva chamber with the bottom of the smoke chamber, the axis of both channels crossing the, saliva basin and a removable grooved pin'in the smoke channel. 2. In a tobacco pipe a straight smoke liva chamber and a smoke chamber in the shaft discharging high above the 1 bottom of this chamber, the saliva chamber consisting of a removable basin, a straight saliva channel connecting the saliva chamber with V MAX SGHIERS
