Be it known that we, SAMUEL LONDON and LoUIs WEBER, citizens of. the United declare the following to be a full, clear, and

exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference bein had to the accompanying drawings, an to characters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

This invention has reference, generally, to improvements in supporting devices, such as are used with vehicles, as automobiles, when working beneath the vehicle; and, the present invention relates,more particularly, to a novel and simply-constructed creeper, provided with an adjustably disposed head-rest, all arranged for supporting the body, the workman lying upon his back upon the main supporting element or member of the device,

with his head resting comfortably upon the adjustable head-rest.

The present invention, therefore, has for its principal object to provide a novel and simply constructed creeper of the general character hereinafter more particularly set forth, and in the provision, in connection with the body-support, of an adjustably disposed head-rest.

Other objects of the present-invention not at this time more particularly enumerated will be clearly understood from the following'detailed description of the present invention.

With the various objects in view, the said invention consists, primarily, in the novel creeper hereinafter more fully set forth; and, the invention consists, furthermore, in the novel arrangements and combinations of the various devices and parts, as well as in the details of the construction of the said parts, all of which will be more fully described in the following specification, and then finally embodied in the clauses of the claims whlch are appended to and which form an essential part of the said specification.

The invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a plan view of the. novel creeper, comprising a combined body-rest and adjustable head-rest, showing one embodiment of the principles of the present invention; Figure 2 is a central longitudinal vertical section of the creeper, with the adjustable head-rest represented in elevation; and Figure 3 is a transverse vertical section of the creeper, said section being taken on line 3-3 in said Figure 1, looking in the direction of the arrow X.

Similar characters of reference are employed in the said above described views, to indicate correspondin parts.

Referring now to t e said drawings, the reference-character 1 indicates the complete creeper, the same comprising a main frame consisting of the longitudinally extending side- bars 2 and 3,'and the laterally extending end-bars 4 and 5, said side-bars and endbars being suitably secured together, so as to provide a rectangular frame, by means of rivets or bolts 6, although it will be evident that the said frame may be otherwise produced. Other laterally extending bars, as 7 and 8, are respectively located near the said end-bars 4 and 5, said bars 7 and 8 being secured at their ends to the said sidebars 2 and 3 by means of rivets or bolts 9, or in any other suitable manner.

Suitably attached to the said side- bars 2 and 3 and the said bars 7 and 8 is a wire-' fabric, as 10, for the support of the body of the workman, as will be evident. At or near the four corners of the frame-work thus provided, preferably by being secured to the under surfaces of the said end-bars 4 and 5 and the laterally extending bars 7 and .8, by means of rivets or bolts 11, or in any other suitable manner, are castor-plates 12, with which are rotatably connected the horns 13 provided with pintles 14 upon which are suitably mounted the rollers 15. That the movable back-rest or body-support thus provided may be higher at one end, near the head-rest to be presently described, than at the other end, so as to provide greater comfort while working, the one set of castors near the said head-rest end of the frame-work, are larger than the castors at the other end, so that the creeper will have an inclined relation to the surface upon which it is placed and is adapted 'to move, as will be clearly evident from an inspection of Figure 2 of the drawings.

Connected with the end-bar 4, by means of rivets or bolts 16, or in any other suitable manner, and extending outwardly from said end-bar 4, is a triangularly or other suitably formed bracket 17, carrying a crossbar 18 having an internally screw-threaded hub or boss 19. Adjustably disposed in said hub or boss is a screw-threaded post 20, carrying upon its upper end-portion a suitably shaped head-rest, as 21. The purpose of this adjustably disposed head-rest will be clearly evident from an inspection of the several figures of the drawings, and the op: eration of and the manner of using the creeper beneath an automobile, when working thereon, being well known,- any further description of the same is therefore deemed unnecessary. 1

Of course we are aware'that some changes may be made in the general arrangements and combinations of the various devices and parts, as well as in the details of the construction. of the said parts, without departing from the scope of the present invention as set forth in the foregoing specification, and as defined in the clauses of the claims which are appended thereto. Hence, we do not limit our invention to the exact arrangements and combinations of the several devices and parts, as described in the foregoing specification, nor do we'confine ourselves to the exact details of the construction of the said parts, as illustrated in the accompanying drawings.

We claim 1.
