Be it known that l, FRANK F. lno'rim, a citizen ot the VUnited States, and resident et Ridgewood, in the county ot Bergen and State ot New Jersey, have invented certain new and uselful Improvements in Belt Buckles, of which the following is a specification.

rllhe object oi' my invention is to provide simple and effective means to permit the main body portion of a belt buckle to remain attached in the desired position upon the belt and to readily connect and disconnect the opposite end portions of the belt therewith. I n

ln carrying out my invention l provide a buckle with a movable member to detachably connect the buckle to a belt near one end; at the opposite end of the belt I attach a connector, and between said movable member and said connector I provide compleinental inter-engaging means to attach said member and the connector together to retain the belt around a waist. l I

, My invention also comprises novel details ot improvement that will be more 'tully hereinafter set forth and then pointed out in the claims.

The numeral l indicates 'the main body or the trame of the buckle to which a belt gripping or clamping member or lever .2 is pivotally attached. Vln the example illustrated the buckle Yl'ranie isv shown comprising a front plate la provided with spaced side webs lb, between which webs the clamp member or lever 2 is pivoted by means of its pivots or gudgeons 3 in a well known- Inanner, said member having a portion 2a projecting from the lever near the gudgeons towardV the front plate to grip the beltl therebetween. Said .buckle member may-be attached near one end oi' the belt in anordinary way, and retained in set position by the clamp member 2 wheny its tree end portion 2D is pressed toward the belt. At the opposite end ci the belt isa connector., 5 adapted to be attached to clamp member or ,lever 2 oi? thebuckle trame. The connector 5 may be attached to the adjacent end of the Vbelt in any well known manner. l haveshown the end portion 4t of the vbelt looped through the connector which is shown in open form at and retained against the body ofthe belt by ordinary snap fasteners 6, whereby the connector is detachably carried by the belt. Between the clamp mcmber'or lever 2 and the connector 5 l provide detachable inter-engaging means for readily connecting the belt ends together around the wearers waist, and tor disconnecting them without disturbing the position of the buckle on the belt. The buckle member 2 shown provided with aprojection or stud 7, located at the outer end portion of said member, and the connector is provided with an opening or recess 8 communicating with a reduced slot-orneck-like portion 9 to receive the shank of thel projection or stud. The projection 7 may be struck from the metal ot member 2, or maybe ar separate part riveted or otherwise secured thereto. I have shown means to retain the connector 5. in. detachable ei'igagementwith meinberor lever 2, for which purpose connector 5 has spaced stops l0, shown inthe Jform of fingers, 'located between slotted portion 9 and slots il. trl-aid stops are shown having projecting poi-tions or protuberances l0a to obstruct the headed or lateral portions 7u of projection 7, (Fig. 9),`when lthe member or'lever 2 and the connector are assen'ibled, to preventspon' taneovus separation ot said member and connector.
