Myinvention relates to cooking vessels in which the steam is not allowed to escape at low temperature, otherwise known as pressure cookers. This invention is animprovement upon the construction set forth in United States Patent No. 1,111,810 issued to me Sept. 29, 1914. y

The Aessential objectsl of my invention are to ,furnish a means for relieving excessive steam pressure in the pressure cooker in such a manner as .toinsure instantaneous and certain operation and avoid thedelayed action incident to the use of special safety valves which stick after corrosion of the parts; to avoid the. use of any independent safety valve and utilize thereceptacle cover `tor this purpose; to render the steam `pressure releasing means adjustable to any de sired or predetermined degree; to prevent scorching and any change or loss of ingredients in cooking, and to utilize the conined 4 heat to a maximum.

To the above and correlated ends my invention consists in such parts and in such combinations of lparts as fall within the scopeof the appended claims. In ythe accompanying drawings` which form a partof this specification,

The inner vessels are introduced and removed from the outer vessel by means or' their respective bails, and the inner vessels are everywhere spaced from the outer vessel to allow the liquid and steam Ytree access to all parts thereof. The bayonet slot engagen'ient makes each of the inner vessels including` its cover portable as a single element, but enables disengagement ot the cover when necessary. The contents or the inner receptacles remain intact and no part ot' the ingredients therein escape.

After he rod has been elevated the distance to insure a desired number of pounds of resistance the sleeve is rotated spirally until its lower end abuts against the head 39 ot the rod, and prevents any further vertical travel ot the rod. The sleeve may be Vhired in any desired position by means of the set screw i-O.

I claim l. ln a steam pressure cooking' apparatus, a receptacle, a cover on the receptacle, a resilient yoke on the receptacle, a bearing member on the yoke, a threaded post on the cover, a sleeve having threaded engagement with the post and provided with an internal thread, and a rod engaging; the bearing member and provided with a thread loosely engagingv the internal thread oth said sleeve.

3. ln a steam pressure cooking apparatus, a receptacle, a cover on the receptacle, a resilient yoke on the receptacle, a bearing member on the yoke, a tubular internally threaded post on the cover, a sleeve having threaded engagement with the post and yprovided with an internal thread, a rod enl qageable at its upper end with the bearing member and provided with a thread loosely engaging the'internal thread of said sleeve, a head on the lower end ot' the rod engageable with the sleeve, anda set screw in the post engaging the sleeve.`
