' COMBINATION FURNITURE.
. Application filed August 29, 1921.
T 0 all whomz't. may concem Be it known that I, EVA M. apcitis.
zen of the United States, and a .residentof Columbus,.in the county of Franklir-iand State of Ohio, have invented certainnew and combination furniture and more particularly to a combined library and dressing table, one object of the invention being to provide an article of furniture which shall be neat in appearance as a library table'without indicating its use for other purposes and which shall provide a dressing table having mirrors and also receptacles for articles commonly used in connection with dressing tables, the whole forming a compact and sanitary structure. 1
With this and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations of parts as hereinafter set forth and pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a view of the article of furniture when used as a library table. Figure 2 is a view of the article when used as a dressing table, and Figures 3 and 4 are sectional views.
The frame of the device may comprise a series ofposts or legs 1, a back rail 2 having its ends mortised front rail 3 having its ends mortised into the other two of said posts, and end rails 4-4 having their respective ends mortised into the posts at respective ends of the frame. The frame may also include cross-bars 55 secured between the posts at respective ends of the frame and serving to support a shelf- 6. If desired these cross-bars may be connected with the end members or rails 44c by suitable panels 7-7 to give an ornamental appearance to the article.
The space formed by the front, back and end rails is divided by cross-bars 8-8, the upper edges of which are slightly below the horizontal plane of the upper edges of the front and back rails, and portions 9 of the several posts or legs terminate at their upper ends a corresponding distance from the horizontal plane of the upper edges of the several frame rails. In the spaces formed in two of said posts, a

bars land.uponfp'ortionsm9. iofltheepostsrorw legs,.portions. of i said ifian'geswalsoi servingi to cover the spacesbetween the body portion u ofsaid receptacles and i the: front; back and 5 end f rails. :The cross-bars 8 :21 re zpnovided with beads 12 for accommodation of grooves in the sides of a drawer 13 which occupies the central space between said cross-bars, and
the front end portion of said drawer may he flush with the front rail 3 and move through a recessed portion of the latter. lVith the receptacles and drawer mounted in the frame in the manner above explained,
a cover 14 may be caused to rest firmly upon the upper edges of the rails of said frame so as to completely cover said receptacles and prevent the admission of dust thereto as well as to completely hide them.
The cover 14 is hinged at one edge to the back have the appearance as a library table.
The table top or cover 14 may be raised to rail 2 and when closed the article will and be capable of use an approximately vertical position and when so raised, its under side will be eX- posed and said under side is provided centrally with a fixed mirror 15. At respective sides of this fixed mirror, pockets 16 are formed in the under side of the reception of the frames of hinged mirrors 1717. The table top is thus provided with a triple mirror, two members of which are hinged with respect to the central mem- I her and capable of being angle desired by the user.
Having fully described my invention what I claim as'new and desire to secure by Letters-Patent, is:
1. An article of combined furniture c'onr prising a supporting frame, a drawer mounted centrally in the frame and slidable through the front of the same, trays removably supported in the frame at the sides of the drawer, the top of the drawers and the tops 0- top, the table top being recessed on its under side whereby it may house the mirrors in" extended relation with their exposed sun the table top for M disposed at any 95 faces flush with the under surface of the table top and rest flat on the top of the frame and cover the drawer and the trays.
2. A combined article of furniture comprising supporting posts, front, back and end rails secured to and extending between 0pposed sides of the posts at the upper ends thereof, the inner corner portions of the posts terminating short of the upper edges of the rails, intermediate rails securedto and extending between the front and back rails with their upper edges slightly below the upper edges of the front and back rails, the front rail being recessed between the intermediate rails, a drawer slidably supported by and between the intermediate rails and movable through the recess in the front rail,
' the frontend of. the drawer resting in said recess in its closed position, trays having lateral flanges at the tops of their sides and ends to rest upon the upper edges of the intermediate-rails and the upper extremities of the inner corner portions of the posts whereby to removably support the trays at the sides of the drawer, and a fiat table top hinged to the back rail and adapted to rest flat on the front, back and side rails and cover the drawer and the trays, the weight of the top and the mirrors being borne solely by the rails.
In testimony whereof, I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
EVA M. CROOKS.
