Application filed February 1' To all whom may mm.-
Be it known that l, CLARENCE D. PLATT, e citizen of the United States of America, residing at Bridgeport, Feirfielcl County, Connecticut, have invented s new ens useiul Electrical (jut-Gut, of which the follow inn is e specification.
t/ly invention relates to what are con"- neonly termed cut-outs, receptacles etc, and particularly to olevices having what are termed screw shells for receiving fuse plugs, lsrnps, connectors, etc.
in certain types of these devices safety inspectors enol engineers requir that the terminal and! live parts he covered or protected so that there is no olsnger of sociclents-l contact and the consequent (i to life encl property. Some menuiect less provide osses which support the orinci: parts, and covers for protecting the in portions: These covers are usually remove his to facilitate wiring, entl lazy or careless worlrrnen frequently tail to r l th covers In such cases, the live s rein exposed. ll propose to make it riitiicult use such cut-outs without the covers an to leave parts in such condition sh-sence of the cover will serve as inclicetion that the cut-out is not in proper conui For tne shove pirrpose rnount 3h shell so that when the ere essernhlegl sncl protected the plug or ease or connector may be readily inser or removeci in the ususl insnner, but in case the cover is missing, the screw socket turn freely on its support and thus inc very olitlicult to insert the plug or form of connector as the screw socket wit turn around freely with the pin .ifhis loose conclition will he noticeable the most casual observer.
Figure l is e plan view of one cut out erchodyin the improvern invention, one or covers 583131 ewsv and one of the screw shells 2 is an edge view enol partied l ig. 3 is en explotleclview a; ell and connecting parts.
Fig. is s perspective view of form of rece' atecle.
In the forms shown in 1 2.,
the insulating base 5 carries a, plurality of screw shells o eech or whlch serves to receive CUT-@UT.

fuse plug, lamp base, or other connector (not shown) which for convenience will hereinafter be referred to as a plug. The center contact 7 constitutes the head of a screw normally protected, by an insulating color 10 held in place by one or more screws ll. a circuit terminal for said screw shell, a cover for said base to guard said terminal and the sides of said screw shell, and for r eventing said screw shell from rotatwk on said cover is in place.
2, ll. cut out comprising, a base having a recess, screw shell rotatably mounted in said recess and having a projection, a cover detachably secured said base and having a portion coacting with said projection to pre vent said screw shell from rotating.
device of the character described comprising, a base having a recess, a screw shell loosely mounted in said recess, a circuit terminal in said recess, detachable means in said screw shell for effecting electrical conbetween said screw shell and a part of said terminal, and a cover member protectinn said screw shell and preventing it from rotating.
A device of the character described comprising, an insulating base, a contact member secured thereto, a screw shell having a flange, means for establishing an electrical connection between said flange and said contact member, a detachable insulating cover and means carried by said cover for preventing rotation of said screw shell.
5. A construction or the character described comprising an insulating base, a con tact member mounted thereon, a circuit terminal for said contact member, a center con tact, a circuit terminal "therefor, a cover member for covering said terminals and having a passage in line with said contact memher and said center contact, and a fuse plug receiving member movable with respect to said base, and means carried by said cover for holding said fuse receiving member in electrical connection with said contact men her and preventing rotation of said fuse receiving member.
6. A device of the character described comprising, a base, two circuit terminals carried thereby, a rotatable screw shell having a sliding contact with a part of one terminal, a screw connected to the other terminal and loosely holding said screw shell in place, and a cover for said terminals pr venting said screw shell from rotating.
l. A device of the character described comprisin overstanding said flange, a center contact screw and an insulating disc interposed tween said screw and said washer.
8., device of the character de ibed comprising, an insulating base, a contact; carried thereby, a screw shell having a flange, a cupped washer said contact and overstanding said flange, a spring washer between said flange and said cupped washer, a center contact screw and an insulating disc interposed between said screw and said washer.
9. A construction of the chara:ter described comprising an insulating base, a contact member mounted on said base, a circuit terminal therefor, a center contact, a cover detachably secured to said base and covcring said circuit terminal but having an opening in line with said center contact and said contact nember, a screw shell held stationary by said cover and resilient connectin bctween. said contact member and said screw shell.
10. A construction of the character dcscribed comprising insulating base, a contact member mounted thereon, a circuit terminal therefor, a center contact, a fuse receiving shell electrically connected to said contact member but movable with relation thereto, and a cover member surroiuiding said shell and holding it in position to rcceive a fuse plug, so that may be electrically connected to said contact member and said center contact'when said cover is in place.
11. A construction of the character dcscribcd comprising an insulating base, a cencontact member, a circuit terminal connected thereto, a laterally disposed contact CLARENCE D. PLATT.
