BURNER.
Application flied April 1,
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, HENRY .Zinnonn, Sr, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lockland, in the county of Hamilton and idtate of Ohio, have invented new and useful Improvements in Burners, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a burner, the general object of the invention being to provide means for converting the fuel into gas so that the burner Will give the maximum amount of heat With the minimum amountof fuel.
Another object of the invention is to provide adjustable battles for spreading the flames at the burner.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings ant specifically pointed out in the appended vlaims.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several vieWs, and in WlllChI.-
Figure 1 is a side view of a burner constructed in accordance with my invention.
Figure 2 is a plan View.
Figure 3 is a longitudinal sectional view through the device.
Figure 1- is a transverse sectional view therethrough.
in these views 1 indicates the base of the member Which is adapted to be placed in a stove, furnace or the like. One or more T- shaped couplings :2, is or are secured to the base in any desired manner and a pipe 3 has its ends connected With the arms of the icoupling, the pipe being in the form of a flattened loop, as shown. One end of the pipe or coupling is closed from the stem of the coupling and a teed pipe 4: is passed through openings in the base and is connected With the pipe 3, adjacent the closed part thereof, so that the oil or fuel passing from said pipe into the pipe 3 must pass so entirely through the pipe 3 to enter the cow pling Where it may escape through the small hol 5 made in the center of the coupling. The hole is controlled by the needle valve 6.
A baiile plate 7 is provided for each burner and these plates are adjustable by having their arms 8 pivotally secured to an upright 3.922. Serial No. 548,664.
9 Which is supported from the'base. A pan 10 is carried by each coupling, said pan being designed to receive some of the oil passing through the hole 5 so that the same can be ignited for the initial heating of the parts. The feed pipes t may be connected with a tube 11 which is connected by a pipe 12 with a source of supply and which contains the controlling valve 13 for the feed pipes.
From the above it will beseen that the oil or fuel is subjected to the heat of the burning gases passing through hole 5 so that the oil is turned into a gas before it reaches the coupling and this gas escaping through the hole 5 will burn with an intense heat. The Home is spread by the bathe plate 7.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features oi my invention Will bereadily apparent.
i desire it to be understood that I may mak changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claims.
What I claim is 2- 1. rl. burner 01" the class described comprising a base, a coupling carried thereby and ha a jet opening therein, a tube of loop shape and having its ends connected with the coupling, one end of the tube being closed, means for feeding fuel into the tube adjacent the closed end and a valve for controlling the jet opening.
2. A burner of the class described comprising a base, a coupling carried thereby and having a jet opening therein, a tube of loop shape and having its ends connected with the coupling. one end oi. the tube oeing closed, means for feeding fuel into the tube adjacent the closed end, a valve for controlling the jet opening and a battle plate extending into the loop formed by the tube for spreading the flame at the jet opening.
A burner of the class described comprising a base, a ll-coupling secured thereto and having a jet opening therein, a tube of loop shape having its ends connected with the arms of the coupling one end of the tube being closed, means for feeding fuel into the tube adjacent the closed end, a cup under the arms of the coupling and an adjustable spreader plate for the burner.
in testimony whereof I affix my signature.
HENRY ZliEBQLD, SR.
