ATTORNEY Patented Apr. l), K9233.
u'NTTao aTaTTs MICHAEL H. BIALIG'K, OF SAGINAW, MICHIGAN.
CIGAR HOLDER AND ASH RECEPTACLE.
Application filed October 3, 1921. Serial No. 504,899.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MICHAEL H. BIALIoK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Saginaw, in the county of Saginaw and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cigar Holders and Ash hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention is a combined cigar holder and ash receptacle and is adapted especially 1:; for use in vehicles such as automobiles, railroad trains, steamboats and the like, whereby the ash receptacle and the cigar holder are exposed to drafts or wind.
The objectof my invention is to provide a combined ash receptacle and cigar holder that can be quickly attached to or removed from the instrument board, seat, back or other support of a vehicle, the receptaclewhen in place being adapted to be turned at various angles to suit the convenience of the user and so arranged that the lighted end of the cigar will rest in such position that the ash will drop into the receptacle and the burning end of the cigar will be sheltered from the draft or wind by a winddeflecting hood.
With the foregong and certain other objects in view, which will appear later in the specification, my invention comprises the devices described and claimed and the equiv'- tiltable loop, an ash receptacle removably alents thereof.
In the drawings, Fig. lis a perspective v'ew of the cigar holder and ash receptacle secured to its tiltable bracket.
40 Fig. 2 is a side view of the receptacle and holder.
- F ig. 3 is a front view.
Fi 4 is a side view of appreferred form of ti table bracket.
Fig. 5 is a top plan view of the same.
As is clearly shown in the drawings, the device consists in a usual receptacle 1 of cylindrical or other suitable form and a. wind-deflecting hood 2 carried by the receptacle and forming a partial cover for the same. A trough 3 adapted to hold a cigar is secured; to the receptacle 1;;at the place of attachment of the hood to thareceptacle, so
that a cigar may be laid in the trough?) Receptacles; and I do with the lighted end projecting into the receptacle l, protected against wind or draft by the hood 2.
Trough 3 may be provided with a pair of clips 4 to prevent the cigar from being jolted out of the trough.
The receptacle 1 may be removably and rotatably received in a metal loop or band 5 pivotally secured, as at 6, to a base 7, the pivoted loop and the base together forming a tiltable bracket.
In use receptacle 1 is preferably held in the loop 5 by frictional contact and it can be easily removed from the loop, or the cigar holder can be turned to any desired angular position in the loop in a horizontal plane.
When the receptacle isnot in use it can be removed from the bracket andput in any safe place to avoid theft, and the loop 5 can be folded out of the way against the instrument board, or other supporting part to which it may be attached.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by LettersPat cut is:
1. In combination, a supporting bracket,
a cylindrical ash receptacle removably and rotatably received in said bracket, a laterally pro ecting trough secured to the receptacle at the side thereof, a wind-deflecting hood on said receptacle, said hood located over the place of attachmentof the trough and said receptacle.
2. In combination, a bracket having a and rotatably received in said loop, a winddeflecting hood on top of said receptacle and a horizontally disposed trough secured to 1 said receptacle at the mouth of said hood.
3. In combination, a tiltable bracket having a loop, an ash receptacle removably and rotatably secured in said loop, a wind-defleeting hoodon said receptacle, said hood having an opening at one side of said receptacle, a horizontally disposed. trough secured to the receptacle at thei'opening of the hood, and a pair of cigar-retaining'clips on v the sides of said trough, for the purposes set forth.
In testimony whereof, I afl'ix my signature. v
. MICHAEL H. BIALICK.
