Description

M. E'YRAUD, JR.
SAFETY RAZOR.
FILED FEBJ Mar. 27, 1923.
I Patented Mar. '27, 1923."-
' MARGELIIN EYRAUD, JR, 0F LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA.
SAFETY mzon.
Application filed February 7, 1922. Serial No. 534,662.
To all whom it may OOI'LCEWL.
Be it known that I, MARCELLIN EYRAUD, J r., a citizen of the United States, residing at Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Safety Razors,
- of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to safety razors and more particularly to the construction of the handle thereof in order that a styptic pencil -,may be detachably mounted therein and keptclean and dry when not inuse, and readily and conveniently removed therefrom and used in the treatment of skin abrasures often present in the face after ashaving operation.
The above ment1oned and other purposes 'of my invention will be more fully' set forth usual hollow tubular handle 6 provided with.
in the following detailed description and illustrated in the accompanying, drawings, in which:
Fig. l-is an enlarged longitudinal section through a well known make of safety razor showing my invention mounted in the handle thereof as it would appear when not in. use.
Fig. 2 is an enlarged side view of my in-- vention as it would appearwhen removed fronnthe razor handle ready to be used.
In carrying out my invention, 5 represents a safety razor construction, ,known in the trade as the Gillette, and comprises the the safety comb member 7 the blade 8, and the blade securing and adjusting member 9 at one of its ends. The blade securing member 9 is provided with the usual stem 10 v which passes through a bore 11 in the lower end of tlie handle 6 and projects into the enlarged bore 12 of said handle, ed at its inner'end at 13. V A tube 14 is adapted to telescope into the bore 12 of handle -6 and is provided at its inner end with a threaded bore 15 into which and is thread-' the threaded end 13 of stem l0-engages, for
the purpose of adjusting and holding th blade 8 in adjusted position. All of the above recited construction is common to the .type of razor previously mentioned and needs no further description.
The tube 14 is open at its outer end and the bore thereof is threaded as at 16 for the purpose of providing a means of securing my stypt1c pencil construction therein.
My styptic pencil construction comprises.
a holder 17 having a finger grip knurled head 18 of a diameter equivalent to the (li ameter of the top portion of the tube 14:,said head being provided with a reduced extension 19 which is threaded as at 20 to engage with the threads in the top of member 14, as
clearly shown in Fig. 1- of the drawings.
The extension 19 is provided with: a centrally disposed threaded bore 2].- into which one end of a styptic pencil member 22 is threaded, the opposite end thereof being sharpened to a point and adapted to project into the bore of the tube 14.
By the above recited construction it will be obvious that when during a shaving operation the skin of the shaver becomes acci-- dentally or otherwise abraded, the device may be readily removed from the tube 14 and conveniently utilized in the treatment of the abrasion, and that it will at all times be conveniently available for this purpose.-
Moreover, by forming the head of the holder member of the same diameter as the body'of v the razor handle, the head will simplyform a slight extension of the handle and give it a smooth finish, thereby permitting of the handle to slide readily in the operators hand while performing a shaving operation.
What I claim is In a safety razor. the combination with a .hollow cylindrical-handle provided on one end with ablade supporting and adjusting means, the opposite end of said handle being threaded for the reception of a threaded closure plug. a threaded closure plug having a centrally disposed threaded recess formed therein, and a styptic pencil threaded into the threaded recess of said closure plug, the
pencil pro ecting Within the hollowhandle when the-plug is secured thereto; 1 Inwitness that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto subscribed d'ay of January, 1922.
