` JOHN H. POHLKOTTE, Ol? DAYTON, OHIO, ASSIGNOR TO THE GEM CORPORATION OF OHIO.
SHIRT COMPANY, or
GARMENT.
Application filed December 5, 1921.
To @ZZ fui/07u it may concern:
Ee it known that l, JOHN lil. PoHLiroT'rn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Dayton, in the county of Montgomery and itate of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Garments, of which the following is a specification, reference beinp` had therein to the accompanying drawings.
lily invention relates to garments and in particular' to a. hunting` coat and the like. The object of my invention is to provide a hunting coat with a pluralit",r of pockets for the carrying of game, shells, etc. lt is a further object of my invention to provide a hunting coat having` these pockets accessible through a plurality of openings in the coat so that the load in the pockets may be distributed to evenly balance the weight placed in the pockets.
lt is a further object of my invention to provide a detachable pocket of waterproof materialV which may be taken out of the coat entirely and properly cleaned.
It .is a further object of my invention to provide a detachable waterproof pocket which may be divided into sections as de- It is an additional object to provide such a waterproof pocket divided in sections7 which independent sections or pockets are accessible through independent openings in various parts of the coat so that the load may be distributed therein as desired.
Referring to the drawings:
' Fie'. 'I is an inside view of one-half of the coat;
l Fig. il is an outside View of one-half of the coat;
Fig. is a detailed elevation of the detachable waterproof pocket;
Fig. 4 is a section ofthe coat taken on the line 4 *4 of Fig. 1, showing the detachable waterproof pocket in section, the rear flap opening and the side Hap opening. The detachable pocket .is unfastened so that it comprises one continuous pocket in Fie'. 4.
.Referring to the drawings in detail, 1 is a coat having the usual collar 2 with sleeves 3 attached to the arm holes 4. 5 is a shoulder piece which is fastened by snaps 6to an inside skirt piece 7. When 7 is unfastened from 5 it permits access to the detachable waterproof pocket that extends throughout the lower portion of the skirt from one side to the other. This pocket is designated 8.
serial No. 519,950.
lrecess to the pocket 8 is secured in four ways`through ,the side openings or side pockets 9, orj the'back pockets 10. It will be understood that there is av side pocket on either side and a back pocket just back of the sleeve on either side. It is therefore possible for the hand of the wearer to be thrust in the back pocket and thence into the detach able waterproof pocket 8 or through the side pocket 9 into the waterproof pocket 8. The opening of the pocket 10 is closed by a flap 11. The outer wall of the coat is designated 1&2 in which the pocket 10 is formed. Carried on the outside of the coat is the usual pocket 13 with a flap 14. Between 12 and 7 the detachable pocket 8 is fastened by any suitable means, preferablufv snaps 14, one portion of which is mounted on the pocket 8 and the other portion is attached to the inside of 'T and 12 at 15.
When it is desired to divide 8 into three compartments, A, B and C, the snaps 16 are fastened to one another, thus forming the detachable waterproof member into the three pockets. 8 is provided with a reinforcing band 17 which forms a suitable support for the snaps 14.
It will therefore be apparent that when it is desired to clean the pocket 8 that the snaps 6 will be unfastened so that 5 will be parted from 7 and then the pocket 8 can be removed by uncoupling the snaps 14, taking the pocket out bodily.
While I have shown and described certain features as constituting my invention, it will be understood that parts have been shown for purposes of illustration only, and that l do not desire to be limited to such details,
obvious modications will occur to. a person skilled in the art.
Havingl thus fully described my, invention, what l claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is :M
1. In a coat, the combination of an inner and outer wall of the skirt thereof, means for parting a. portion of the inner wall thereof to permit of access to the interior of the coat, a detachable pocket suspended between said walls .in the skirt of the coat adapted to be removed therefrom at will, and means for dividing, at the will of the wearer the detachable pocket into a plurality` of pockets.
2. In a coat. the Vcombination of au inner and outer wall of the skirt thereof, means for parting a portion oi' the inner Wall thereof to permit of the coat, a detachable pocket suspended between said Walls in the skirt of the coat adapted to be removed therefrom at will, means for dividingat the will of the wearer the detachable pocket into a plurality of pockets. and means alongV the Jfront of the coat and aty the back of the coat for access between the Walls of the coat into said pockets of the detachable member.
3. ln a hunting coat, a pair of Walls joined at the sides and at the bottom` a detachable Waterprooic member extending of access to the interior.
